About this property

The Nielsen | Level 9, Three Ocean-Facing Beds

  • Summary:

The lift opens on the ninth floor and the Pacific is straight ahead. That view is the reason The Nielsen exists as a place to stay: three bedrooms, all facing the water,.

    The Space:

Open-plan living and dining faces directly toward the ocean, with natural light and coastal breezes running through the apartment from sunrise to evening. It is the kind of layout where morning coffee, an afternoon back from the beach and a quiet evening all happen in the same room without it feeling crowded. The kitchen is fully equipped for real cooking rather than reheating.

    Sleeping arrangements

Three bedrooms, every one of them ocean-facing, each with built-in wardrobes that make a three-week stay as practical as a three-night one. Families with older children get separation; couples travelling together get parity, which matters more than most listings admit.

    Building amenities

A pool in the building for the days you would rather not drive anywhere, plus secure parking, which in this part of Sydney is worth as much as another bedroom.

    Work and connectivity

Fast Wi-Fi throughout and a dining table that works as a desk with a view most offices cannot match. Rose Bay puts you on a ferry to Circular Quay in around twenty-five minutes, and buses run along New South Head Road into the city all day.

    The neighbourhood

Vaucluse is quiet, green and built around the harbour rather than the surf. Nielsen Park and Shark Beach are the local swim, sheltered and shallow enough for small children, with the Nielsen Park kiosk for lunch. Parsley Bay is the other option, a netted harbour beach under a suspension bridge. Vaucluse House and its gardens sit a few minutes away and are worth an hour.

Watsons Bay is five minutes north. Doyles on the Beach has been serving fish there since 1885, the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel beer garden fills up on Sunday afternoons, and Camp Cove is the calmest water in the area. Keep walking for Hornby Lighthouse, South Head and The Gap, which is the best coastal view in Sydney that does not require a ticket. Christison Park is the clifftop green on the way.

Rose Bay is the practical hub: Woolworths for the weekly shop, the ferry wharf, the seaplane base, and cafes along New South Head Road. Double Bay is ten minutes for boutiques and Cosmopolitan Shopping Centre. Bondi Beach is ten to fifteen minutes by car for the surf, Icebergs and the coastal walk to Bronte. Bondi Junction is fifteen minutes for Westfield, David Jones and the train line into the city.

Medical and university trips are manageable from here. St Vincent's Hospital and St Vincent's Private in Darlinghurst are twenty minutes. Prince of Wales and the Royal Hospital for Women at Randwick are twenty. UNSW Kensington is twenty-five minutes, the University of Sydney thirty, and Sydney Airport around thirty minutes outside peak.

    Who it suits

Families who want a pool, a sheltered harbour beach and bedrooms that all get the view. Couples travelling as two pairs, where nobody is stuck with the inland room. Long-stay guests on a relocation or a work posting who need a kitchen, a laundry and parking. Anyone here for the water rather than the nightlife.

    Quick summary

Three ocean-facing bedrooms, ninth floor, building pool, secure parking, fast Wi-Fi. Walk to Nielsen Park and Shark Beach, five minutes to Watsons Bay, ten to Bondi, twenty-five to the city by ferry from Rose Bay.

East-facing apartments with this outlook do not sit vacant long over summer, so firm dates are worth locking in.
