Great House in a Great Location
This spacious house was in a great location. It had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable, nicely decorated, great home. We did have an issue with the furnace malfunctioning on the cold snowy Northern Michigan weekend but Melissa was extremely responsive and had service there to repair it as soon as possible. Excellent host! Thank you!

Charming house within walking distance to downtown
Cute Suttons Bay House only a block away from downtown. We enjoyed all the space offered in the home, the fully stocked kitchen to make all our meals in and how easy it was to check in. Melissa was a great host offering many things to do in the area for our family. Our family took a hike at Whaleback trails and went to Tandem Ciders during our short stay. The house worked well for our family of 4, plus grandparents and dog.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway
Had a great stay for my birthday with close friends and our 1 year old! House was spacious, but still cozy. Bedrooms were comfortable, house was clean, kitchen had everything we needed and more! Downtown Suttons Bay was so cute, we did a private wine tour and they were able to pick us up right at the house. Would absolutely stay here again!

Sutton’s Bay Stay
What a great place to stay with our family. Clean and comfortable with so much space to spread out and relax. The neighborhood was quiet and it was just a short walk to downtown Sutton’s Bay. I love Sutton’s Bay. Such a beautiful town with lovely shops and really good restaurants. Will be visiting again soon.

Charm to burn!
It's an old house -- it creaks like an old house, the floor rolls like an old house, none of the angles are quite at ninety degrees like an old house. But here's the thing -- it's always on the charming and delightful end of the old house spectrum of possibilities. It's never inconvenient or creepy or anything of the like. The location is wonderful; it's both close to the action and quiet at the same time. Melissa the property manager was super-communicative and helpful. It's an easy five stars -- the kids are already lobbying to come back next year!

What a fun review of the Schoolhouse Cottage, which was built in the late 1800s and used as a school house for the neighboring Lutheran church. So glad to hear the kids had a good time. Glad to note the tennis & pickle & basketball courts nearby as well as ice cream shop within a block. And only two blocks to the beach! Lots to do in Suttons Bay from this prime location.

Great location...loved how you could walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping and soo much more. Appreciated all the information given on fun activities locally and outer areas. Large house with lots of room to spread out. Very clean and well supplied. Great neighborhood, quiet and great for walking for hours, felt very safe. Homeowner was available at all times for any questions and very attentive. Definitely would recommend this home rental.

Location, location, location
Location was so important to our stay. We walked to scoops for ice cream every day. We were also within walking distance to the beach, all the stores and restaurants, and the bike rental store. We loved our stay and can’t wait to visit Michigan again soon.

Cute house right in Suttons bay
We were two families staying for a long weekend in February. The house was cozy for cooking, eating together, and spending evenings together playing games and relaxing together. The kitchen had more then enough equipment to cook meals, and a great functional dishwasher (as a long time VRBO rental that’s not true in all properties in the past). The owner was great with recommendations for sledding hills, and other activities for our young families. Suttons Bay is a great town and we walked down to yeti fest Saturday with the kids who had a great time taking pictures with the famed “bumble”, face painting and games along the way. Great linens and high quality clean towels! Beds were comfy and plenty of fans for kids who needed a little extra sound at night to sleep. Overall this property is excellent for families, plenty of space to spread out and relax!

Amazing house, perfect location, ideal host
We loved this house and its location. Melissa was responsive and accommodating but not intrusive, and the house if anything is nicer than the pictures suggest. The desk in the upstairs bedroom was a nice touch because one of us had work to do, and the sunrise view from that room is heavenly.

Charming spacious home, charming Sutton’s Bay just a walk away
This lovely old home sits on the hill just two blocks up from the Sutton’s Bay downtown. It’s not a very high hill - don’t worry about that. Just enough to give it a special feel as you look down at the charming town and Sutton’s Bay and beach beyond. The Schoolhouse is spacious and comfortable. Kitchen is well-equipped, and we loved the big dining room table, perfect for sharing meals together and working on puzzles. We were two couples, so we enjoyed the great space in the house. One couple claimed the downstairs king size bed and bathroom, and the other couple had the upstairs. Really nice for us all to have lots of space for ourselves, and a wonderful living room to gather together. And the surrounding area is stunning. We were there when the trees were all hues of autumn colors. It’s wine country, cherry country - and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore is awesome to explore. Wonderful local restaurants, fantastically friendly people - that beautiful little downtown Sutton’s Bay - easy to walk to and bring back morning coffees for everyone.

Loved the quiet neighborhood, but one block from fun downtown Suttons Bay, 2 blocks from public Grand Traverse Bay Beach. A few blocks from the Suttons Bay to Traverse City bike & walking trail (paved). Bike rental shop 2 blocks from house. We did a lot of cooking in the well equipped kitchen.. spacious & comfortable house

Melissa’s property was perfect for a family getaway: Walking distance to beach and playground, shops, farmers market; quick ride to wineries. Stocked kitchen, lots of linens, on-site laundry. All we had to do was bring some groceries and settle in!

Spring getaway
Good location. The owner was very accommodating with a pet. This means a lot to us. Our pet is part of our family. It was nice to have an owner respect dogs. We were impressed that we could take showers and did not run out of hot water. The place was supplied with towels, bedding and blankets. Many places we had stayed required us to have to bring our own soap, towels and own bedding because of limited supplies. This place is well equipped with everything. All you have to do is bring your suitcase and you are good to go. The upstairs configuration with the twin bed is more suitable for children as you have to walk through bedroom space to get to the upstairs bathroom. It worked for us as we were all family. Others may need a little more privacy. Overall, clean and comfortable beds. A great stay and a great owner to work with!

Holiday Highlight
Just what we were hoping to find, a cozy home and convenient location to share with friends and family for Thanksgiving. Sutton's Bay was quiet but welcoming. We have previously visited the Leland/Glen Arbor side and wanted to discover the bay side. We weren't disappointed. One block from town and a block beyond was the beach. Glorious sunrises, and holiday lights at night. And Melissa's guide to the area offered activities and entertainment for all. The kitchen was equipped with all the needed for a holiday dinner and an ample table to share it on. Thank you for a marvelous week.

We love being able to walk to the beach and town from the Schoolhouse Cottage. There are other neighboring towns worth exploring when you come back and all of my houses are close to Traverse City. Large house with unbeatable location!
Our family had a great getaway at Melissa’s property. The location is a couple streets over from downtown Sutton’s Bay, providing a peaceful stay with convenience and fun right down the road. While the house is large with ample space, it’s important to note that the twin bedroom is not entirely private as the bathroom is right off of it (which you can see in pictures) but you have to walk through the twin bedroom to get to the queen bedroom. It worked perfect for our situation but just something to be aware of if you need four fully private rooms for your group. Melissa is very responsive and provides a detailed list of great recommendations of places to visit. We loved our Fall stay!

Great Location But!
This is a wonderful location. Able to walk to downtown, beaches etc. BUT.... Property is pretty shabby and needs some updating. Kitchen is circa 1950 with very little counter space and no pantry storage for any items that don"t require refrigeration. Saggy sofas in LR and a bedroom upstairs that is really a hallway that requires passing through to get to the only upstairs bath. Have had quite a bit of experience with vacation rentals either directly or part of a group and really would expect a little more updating at this price point.

Hi Judy, thanks for staying at our year-round vacation rental, the Schoolhouse Cottage in Suttons Bay within walk to the beach and town. Glad you loved the location. We are one of the original historic buildings in Suttons Bay and the house was originally a schoolhouse, so we have made an effort to keep the historic charm and make the house comfortable for families to vacation in Suttons Bay. I have other year-round vacation rentals in Leelanau County and there are other neighboring towns worth exploring, I think your group would love the Bluestone Cottage in Leland. I'd be pleased to host you and your group on your next trip.
