Budget hotel near ski area but needs work

Posted 29-Jan-2016
Pros: Reasonable cost
Cons: Housekeeping was very slow. Much of the hotel under construciton
Location: Near the ski areas
The cost was reasonable but the accommodations were below par for a La Quinta. Housekeeping was slow and much of the hotel was being remodeled which of course wasn't mentioned during the the booking sequence.

Pros: Proximity to ski resorts
Cons: Complete room remodel
Room condition was poor at best. Bathroom tile and caulking was old and peeling. Toilet didn't flush well. Room heater didn't work. Carpets were old and tired-looking. For the rate they were charging, the condition was way out of line.

Good basic place to stay

Posted 23-Jan-2016
This hotel is acceptable. It's nothing fancy but it fits the bill if you're going skiing nearby. There was an icy breeze leaking in around our heater and window. This wasn't a comfort issue if the heat was turned on, but seemed wasteful energy-wise.

Visit to Silverthorne

Posted 15-Jan-2016
After the turn of New Years my cousin and I were excited for our annual snowboard trip this year. We stayed at La Quinta in Silverthorne and from the moment we walked in til check out the last day we were there, the service from staff there was outstanding. Clean and updated facility, friendly warming staff, and not to mention Old Chicago Pub/Pizzaria right there with also friendly staff ready to top off your brews, as well as serve you some great food.. The Chicago 7 pizza and baked mac and cheese with bacon crumbles was as good as it gets from coming in from the cold after a session on the mountain!! I'd recommend staying at La Quinta to anyone visiting Silverthorne Co - 10 min from Keystone, 18min from A. Basin, 15 min from Copper, and 30 min from Vail!

You're paying for the location

Posted 13-Jan-2016
Pros: The staff, by far, was the best thing about this hotel. They were all so kind and accommodating.
Cons: The breakfast needs some work. The breakfast area is great with plenty of space, but needed to be more substantial before hitting the slopes.
Location: People only stay here to be close to the slopes.
Despite the price you might pay, prepare yourself for a $40-50 hotel room. While the hotel (lobby, breakfast area, room, hallways, etc.) was very clean, the room was as basic/average as you can get. The bathroom was quite possibly the smallest I have ever seen, i.e. you can't close the door unless you're in the tub or you pull your knees up to your chest on the toilet. The bed was firm and the pillows lumpy, but all-in-all reasonably comfortable. We didn't try out the pull-out sofa. Don't expect much from the breakfast. Aside from being able to make waffles, it's nothing more than a mediocre continental. What saved this hotel was the staff and cleanliness. Also a nice touch is the coffee/cappuccino machine available all day in the lobby.

Awful, awful, awful.

Posted 04-Jan-2016
Pros: Nothing!!!!!!!!
The heater in the one room did not blow warm. In was freezing in , my childrens room. With freezing temperatures outside it was awful. When we asked for cots, so our children could sleep in our warmer room, they said they didn't have anymore but when we got up in the morning a door was open with two cots sitting right there. When we asked for sheets for the pull out bed they said housekeeping was closed . There were spiders in the pull out bed. The rooms were dirty with hair in the tubs. In the morning there was absolutely no hot water.. When you are spending the day outside in freezing temperatures you should be able to have a hot shower. We will never stay with them again!
