"Hotel is a part of the historic Fort. The room was a good size but the bathroom a little tight. The website photos may lead you to believe there is a bar and restaurant, but it's no longer in use. But it's just a 10 minute walk to the town with a number of bars and restaurants."

"Our room was very clean and provided ample room for 3 adults. The kitchen was clean and provided all amenities that we needed for making our own breakfast and lunch. Coffee provided was very good! Miki the host was very attentive and also very kind. She responded promptly to our questions/request and checked with us to ensure we had everything we needed. I would stay here again and will recommend to friends! Our trip to Haines was 10/10!!! Thank you!"

"We were really happy with Captain's Choice, especially after a long day of biking. Great views over the water from the shared patio/deck. Clean rooms. Carpeted hotel floors have grossed me out before but the ones here were clean and well taken care of. Parking in the back lot was a little tight but we found spots for both cars. If I need a room in Haines again this will be my first choice."

"I stayed here the night before I caught the ferry and it was fantastically comfortable. The only issue that I had, and it was very minor, was finding the check-in instructions, but it was no trouble - another guest showed me the way. Well, there was a second issue. The driveway is very steep with some very sharp turns. I had everything I owned in the back of my pickup, so with the added weight, it was problematic for me to maneuver the driveway. If I'd known, I would have parked on the road and walked up, found my room, planned my route, and then driven in. If the weather had been different, it would have been a problem. All of that said, I loved it and I would absolutely both recommend it and stay there again. "
