Sueste Beach is the best spot to encounter and dive with the island’s native sea turtles. Ringing cliffs provide shelter to the scenic bay, which is part of the Fernando de NoronhaMarine National Park. Enjoy the serenity of this picturesque setting, while in search of the magnificent sea turtles.
Go scuba diving in the clear water to see a range of colourful fish. Marvel at the sea turtles of all sizes that swim in the ocean. Approach slowly so as not to scare away the sea turtles. With caution and subtlety, it is possible to swim alongside one of these majestic creatures for several minutes.
Admire the graceful movements of the larger sea turtles that reach lengths of up to 4 feet (1.2 metres). Other sea creatures here include lobsters, stingrays, moray eels and lemon sharks. Dive with a guide to discover the best places to see fascinating fish.
Find a spot for a picnic on the beach and admire the view of the enclosing bay and the small islands on the horizon. Rent deckchairs and umbrellas for a comfortable stay. Diving gear rental kiosks, snack bars and restrooms are also on-site.
Stroll along the cliffs surrounding the beach for excellent views of the ocean. Find the island’s only mangrove forest that sprouts from a peaceful lagoon.
Purchase a visitor card from the town centre for access to the beach. Get up-to-date information at the visitor centre at the entrance to the bay. Certain parts of the beach are clearly marked as restricted.
Sueste Beach is in the southern portion of the archipelago’s main island. Walk south from Fernando de Noronha Airport for less than 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) to get here. It is on the western part of the Marinho de Fernando de Noronha National Park. Take a bus from the village of Vila dos Remédios on the other side of the island.
