A unique half-timbered house on a park with fantastic views

You’ll be staying in the miller’s house at the Scharnebeck Mill, which was first mentioned in historical records in 1743.

The house has been in our family for generations. In 2018, it was passed down to the next generation and lovingly restored. It was particularly important to us to preserve the original structure as much as possible. Decaying half-timbered beams were replaced, some sections had to be rebuilt with masonry, and the roof was replaced. After the house had settled over the course of three centuries, the foundation made of boulders—typical of the heathland—now provides it with a solid footing. Clay plaster, wooden floors, and a modern geothermal heating system round out the picture.

When it came to the interior design, we focused on striking a balance between the original character and modernity. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer an unobstructed view of the beautiful Örtze floodplains. What could be more fitting than naming our house “Oertzeparadies”?

From the ground floor—which features an open, modern kitchen, a dining area, and a cosy sitting area with a TV—you have direct access to the spacious terrace. The ground floor also houses the bathroom and a guest bathroom. Upstairs, you’ll find two cosy bedrooms with double beds and TVs.

The house is situated on a 2,500 m² property with adjacent meadows and direct access to the Örtze River. A spacious, well-lit guest shed is available for your bicycles. You’ll find various seating areas scattered throughout the property.

Our Oertzespeicher holiday home is located right next door. Each holiday home has its own access road, its own parking space, and its own private section of the property that is not visible to neighbors. The terraces are also not visible from one another, ensuring that nothing stands in the way of your relaxation.
