About this property

Pet-Friendly Lakeside Cottage w/ Kayaks & Canoe | O'Connell Cabin Co

  • Welcome to Cattail Cottage, an Oโ€™Connell Cabin Co. stay on Lower Holly Lake. Built in 2021, it has the same easy lake-day rhythm as our other Cattail cabins โ€” deck, screened porch, walk-out lower level โ€” with extra space when the group runs a little larger.



    A few things to know first:



    -Parking is limited to 4 vehicles. The driveway is the only place to park, and it is not very big.

    -The dock is a short walk from the cabin, on the other side of Cattail Chalet next door. There is an illustration in the photo gallery that shows where it is.

    -We welcome up to 2 dogs. The pet fee is $150, and we ask that you declare pets on your reservation.

    -If you are thinking of bringing your own boat, ATV, or snowmobile, get in touch so we can talk logistics. The road in is tight, and so is the driveway.



    What makes Cattail Cottage different:



    -Sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, with a finished walk-out basement. About 2,000 square feet. The fourth bedroom is an open loft.

    -Gas fireplaces on the main floor and in the lower level.

    -Large deck and screened-in porch with views of 48-acre Lower Holly Lake.

    -Walk-out basement with ping pong.

    -Full kitchen with a center island and a dining table that seats 10.

    -Watercraft: 2 kayaks and a canoe. This cabin does not include a fishing boat or a pedal boat.



    Location and the outdoors:



    Cattail Cottage is about 10 minutes from the town of Stone Lake and about 20 minutes from Hayward. Lower Holly Lake is a quiet 48-acre lake for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The cabin sits on a snowmobile and ATV route, with CAMBA trails nearby for longer rides.



    Also included: firewood for the fire pit, a Blackstone gas griddle, high-speed internet, Smart HDTVs, laundry, and books and games.



    Cattail Cottage is the Oโ€™Connell Cabin Co. cabin for the larger group that wants newer construction and an easy walk to the shared dock on Lower Holly Lake.

Our group of 9 (two couples, one grandpa, 4 teenagers) 1 small dog had a great time! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We found the lake to be great for swimming, and also made good use of the kayaks and canoe.

We had an amazing experience at the Cattail Cottage! The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Lovely house! We enjoyed the canoe and kayaks, the firepit and deck. Close to Spooner and Hayward for day trips. Perfect for our group of 6 adults!

Wonderful Stay

The property is very comfortable and beautifully finished in knotty pine. It was furnished with all the amenities we needed, even firewood for an outdoor fire pit. The owner is very easy to communicate with and responds quickly to any questions you may have. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Check in was smooth and easy. Beautiful view of the lake. Our family really enjoyed the use of kayaks and canoe. And dining room table and chairs could fit all of us for all our meals. Great location to Hayward for groceries, the best candy store, and huge delicious scoops of ice cream in several stores!

Nice family getaway

Excellent experience overall. Plenty of space for everyone. Very comfy beds. Lovely lake view and great for winter fun. Indoors enjoyed playing ping pong, games and relaxing by the fireplace.

Great for families!

We visited with another family and the space was great for 8 people, all ages. The cabin has the basic necessities and the lake access was wonderful. We will definitely keep this location in mind for future cabin trips! The host provided us with so much information upfront that it kept our need to communicate very minimal so we could be in full vacation mode!

Relaxing Family Vacation

Very nice property with quiet location. Brad was very helpful and stayed in contact. We found The Cottage very clean and comfortable, plenty of room for 5 adults and two dogs. Love that this location is pet friendly and we were able to vacation with our dogs. Kayaks and canoe we a hit on the quiet Lower Holly Lake.

Family Getaway

The property was wonderful! My family of 10 and our dogs had a wonderful time at this home! It is open and spacious enough so that we never felt like we were tripping over anyone. The scenery if beautiful and it was very quiet there as well! Lots of space to play games, do puzzles and play ping pong!

Surprise birthday trip

The property was beautiful! You could hear loons at night before bed and in the mornings. Plenty of firewood and chairs for nightly fires. Comfy beds. Great location. The property owner was very quick to respond and had lots of information sent to us and posted in the property making check in and check out easy to follow.

Family Reunion

We had a wonderful time at this property with my siblings & their spouses. Our parents had a place near Birchwood when we were growing up & it was so fun to be in the area & revisit places we use to go to. We all were delighted with the cabin, views, owners attentiveness etc. We hope to return for another reunion.

The home was extremely clean, well equipped and there were amazing views. They really thought of everything for this place. The host was very communicative and we had an amazing time! Great home!

We travel a lot and rent a ton of houses. This is the best home we have stayed at in the Cable/Hayward area. It is very clean, modern and super well equipped. We now stayed there 4 times and enjoyed every stay. Our recent stay was for the Birkie ski race, and it worked great. The host is also super responsive. We will continue to stay here if we are in the area. :-)

Great place!

Very neat, clean and in a quiet location but yet close enough to town for activities and groceries. Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of games and space to keep busy. The beach area is not located directly on the property but it is a short walk down a nearby trail. Pretty sunsets. Overall we all had a great time.

Family get away

The place was very clean. Nice to have a bedroom downstairs to put my grandson to bed and we could be upstairs playing cards. Appreciated being able to bring our dog. Wish there would of been snow to play in. We enjoyed gong for a hike and went whistle Puke.

Weekend Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the Cattail Cottage. We met up with three other families, and had plenty of space to spread out and relax. The area was very quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views. The cottage was clean and had lots of fun amenities, including puzzles and the ping pong table! We would definitely go back. 10/10.

Excellent Hideaway

We had an excellent time at the Cottage. My whole family enjoyed the fire pit roasting smores on the warm summer nights. The ping pong table was a hit with my teen. My husband and son even ventured on the kayaks and went around the lake a couple of times.. The house was very clean with plenty of towels and bedding The welcome book was very thorough. It was really an enjoyable experience I would definitely stay here again.

Clean and high quality, host is super responsive

The cabin is very clean and high quality. Love how everything is labeled - especially all the lights! Double bonus that there was a sponge and dish soap since I always forget to pack that. Love that itโ€™s pet friendly. The floors are not carpeted which makes it great for pets. We have stayed in multiple of Brads properties and he is super responsive and answers all my questions.

Everything our family wanted

We had our entire family (6 adults and our 14 month old Granddaughter) had such a wonderful time! We kayaked, fished and just enjoyed the natural splendor! For a small little lake holy smokes it was so much fun watching the fishing activity! Loved everything! Brad our property owner was so highly communicative and I certainly appreciate everything he did for us! I honestly wish that there was a higher level we could give! ๐Ÿ‘
