"The spa, gym, and lake views are excellent. The hotel has a very 90's feel and no room service (this was a bummer as we had a lake view room and wanted to stay in and relax). The beirgarten by the water has excellent food, although it closes at 930pm (as does the only restaurant on site (a buffet). The place was comfortable for 1 dayx the lake location and sauna were exactly what we wanted"

Gera
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (23 reviews)
"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. This means that there is no one to ask about parking, amenities etc. The second thing is that no one speaks English at all. The cleaning staff was very sweet but could not speak a word. We had to use Google Translate for all...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Stelzendorf?
The best area to stay in Stelzendorf is the village centre, particularly around Hauptstrasse, for its convenience and access to local amenities.

This central area of Stelzendorf offers a relaxed, rural setting, with Hauptstrasse serving as the main thoroughfare where you'll find the local bakery, a few guesthouses, and a traditional inn. It's a well-kept area with easy access to walking paths that lead into the surrounding Thuringian countryside.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape often find the village centre appealing. It provides a quiet base for exploring the region's natural beauty and offers a chance to experience authentic village life. You can enjoy strolls through the fields or visit the nearby historic churches.

For families, staying near the village periphery, close to the local playground and sports fields, can be a good option. These areas offer more space for children to play and are still within easy reach of the main village facilities.
When is the best time to go to Stelzendorf?
The best time to visit Stelzendorf is from late spring to early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.

During these months, you can expect mild to warm temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the surrounding Thuringian Forest, visiting local attractions, and enjoying the natural beauty of the region. The days are longer, allowing for more time to sightsee and partake in various excursions. This period also sees the most local festivals and events, offering a chance to experience the local culture.

For those interested in hiking or cycling, late spring and early autumn provide comfortable conditions without the intense heat of mid-summer. The landscapes are particularly picturesque with blooming flora in spring and vibrant foliage in autumn.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Stelzendorf.
