Shepherds Hideaway

"We had the best week imaginable in this adorable shepherd's hut. The communication with the host was impeccable and they were friendly, helpful and efficient with every query. The hot tub is huge, as is the outside area for relaxing - the garden area is well shaded through the evening by trees and there is a field of beautiful cows for company. Bring logs etc for the tub, barbeque and log burner. It feels very private and isolated but it's relatively close to all the nearby amenities in Holsworthy. There is no road noise as it is set away from main traffic routes. Located on a working farm, there will be animal noises, which add to the tranquility. The hut itself is gorgeous. Beautifully kitted out and more spacious than I'd imagined. The shower is awesome (there's an outdoor one, too) but can be a little temperamental switching between hot and cold to keep you on your toes, but this didn't affect the overall impact of such a fabulous little hideaway. Lots of electrical sockets, shelving and drawers, lovely towels and robes and all the cookware you would need. Oven and fridge worked great and the sink is stunning. There was a Nespresso machine, too, which was very welcome indeed! The occasional frog and fox popped by to say hello but we remained entirely undisturbed and had the chance to relax fully away from the crowds and tourists. I wish we had booked the whole summer here. It was so perfect and brought us much joy. Enormous thanks to our fabulous hosts."

"We were looking for somewhere quiet and dog friendly. What we got far surpassed anything we could hope for. Chasty house barn is a very special place. The house was exceptionally clean and had everything one could hope for in a holiday let and more. Our 11 month sproodle was very spoilt with a lovely large garden to run around in, plenty of dog bowls, towels, and a spaniel size dog crate for him to sleep in. Us humans were also spoilt with a lovely welcome pack of biscuits and and a Devon cream tea when we arrived (including doggy sausages for Dutch). The house was quiet with only the occasional farm tractor or horse using the lane. Holsworthy is well located for many attractions and beaches in West Devon / East Cornwall, including the Eden project, Brixham's Golden Hind, Lynton and Lynmouth, Tintagel, Bude and Widemouth bay beaches etc. All in all this has been a fantastic holiday at Chasty House barn and we would definitely stay again if we came back to this area."

"Soent one night at The King's Arms and it's fine for just that. Our room was small with two single beds, similar to many hotels around England. It was clean and the ensuite was small but an OK size. There was a stuffy smell in the room, but that cleared after opening the window for a few minutes. With the window closed, it did get hot overnight. With the window open, it cooled down, but there was a bit of noise from the occasional car and people outside. The operator was really nice. Check in was a breeze and breakfast order was taken the night before for the following morning. It would be nice to have cereal, friut and other things, rather than just a cooked breakfast, but that may have been available, we didn't ask. It was a traditional English hotel stay in a pub, which was fine for a night. Wifi didn't work in our room, but was ok in the bar area. On street car parking was available outside in the market square."

"The accommodation is stunning, spotlessly clean & tidy, spacious with great attention to detail. State of the art kitchen, huge dining table, spacious lounge and incredible outside space, not forgetting the 10/12 seater hot tub.The surrounding land was equally beautiful and peaceful, from the lakes, to the wildlife, there were geese, ducks, a peacock, goats, sheep & horses, and we were welcomed to explore it all.The hosts went above & beyond including providing transport to the Golf Club on Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day with an incredible roast. The location is perfect, just 7 miles from Bude, where we enjoyed a day on the beach & a swim in the glorious Sea Pool.I would thoroughly recommend the Lakeside Barn to anyone looking for a luxurious break in beautiful & secure surroundings."

"A peaceful and well presented little holiday park. The grounds are really well looked after. The bungalows have everything you need for a comfortable stay. For a family of 5 and a dog it was perfect for us. Also has 2x fished small lakes , a secure dog paddock aswell as free roaming chickens with fresh eggs also rabbits and goats and 2 x tortoise. Well positioned too only 20 min drive to Bude Beach which was fantastic. 100% would stay again. Thank you Lisa & Paul."

"Nice little one night stopover visiting Bude. Ample parking and easy to find. Straight road into Bude. A little isolated so make sure you buy supplies from Bude on the way back. A few spiderwebs and bugs in the room when we arrived but only because the window was left open thankfully because it was such a hot day. Paula the host was very helpful and friendly start to finish. Will stay again if we visit Bude again."
