We had some trouble getting into the house at first, but the owner answered our phone call right away. The house has lots of historic elements but was not super kid friendly. The beds were comfy and the location was very convenient for locations we were visiting (Busch Stadium, Gateway Arch, Union Station).
This was a great stay for a weekend in STL. Tons of room in the apartment with a full kitchen. No issues with cleanliness. Great area, we were close to the soulard bars
The property is exactly how it is described in the listing. We rented the property for a weekend with our boys before school started. The property is an easy quick drive to all the attractions. We visited the Arch and went to a Card’s game and it was only an 8 minute drive to each. Great communication with host and very thankful for a late check out. We would definitely rent again.
From the minute we stepped into the foyer I knew the charm of this apartment was going to be a fun experience for my family who aren’t used to staying right in the city. The apartment is redone with all of the amenities one expects (wifi, keurig, comfy linens and soft towels) but also has the charm of an older building with its creaky floors and crystal doorknobs. The host, Robert, was very kind in all of our messages and responded promptly. He even let us choose our own door code.
The location in McKinley Heights is the perfect distance to downtown and major interstates.
Really good place, the street it is on was quiet and property was clean. Great location with good parking. It was easy to get downtown by driving or by lyft/uber, we did both.
Everything was cool I mean check in was simple I had a parking spot the only thing we didn’t really have much of was pots and pans but it’s was ok so for a quick stay I say yes
This location was amazing for me and my kids and our friends for spring break! Everything was clean and worked correctly. Such a breeze getting in & when we were leaving. We would definitely stay here again! Minutes away from the arch, city museum, & the aquarium!
We had such a good all around experience. The apartment was comfortable and communication was easy and responses were quick. The place looks just like the pictures and made you feel at home. It was in a great location as it was easy to access many different places and the neighborhood was quiet. Just loved it.
This two-bedroom unit has high ceiling and lots of tall windows letting in natural light (with good shades for privacy). Quite comfortable living room with Roku tv. Close to highway and downtown. Very comfortable beds. Good location with plentiful and safe parking on the street. Go to McGurks restaurant nearby----good food, live Irish music, just lovely garden for outdoor eating.
1st, this unit is not in Soulard. It is located near, but not in Soulard, which makes a huge difference if you are familiar with the area.
2nd, the stairs are sideways. After managing the sketchy entry the level of disrepair was immediately clear. In top of that, it was not clean. From smudged and grubby doors around handles, to curly hair in the tub, and thick splatter on the bedroom mirror. This owner is a slum lord. Disgusted.
This is in an old historic neighborhood. This has all of the old charm. King bed was very comfy. LR furniture was very comfy (nothing broken down). It’s on the 2nd floor, but it’s the entire 2nd floor, so no neighbors tromping up & down steps. Two separate secure doors entering from the outside for the 1st & 2nd floors, which I liked. We didn’t use anything in the kitchen other than the fridge & Keurig, assume stove worked also. We didn’t use second bedroom or the DR, but they looked fine. I’m used to sleeping with a fan for noise, so was very happy to see one in the closet! I was also a little apprehensive about street parking, but we always got to park right in front of the house. The area never gave me any bad vibes, felt perfectly safe. If you’re looking for sleek & modern, this apartment isn’t for you. But if you’d like to experience city living in an old historic home, close to the Soulard area, I think it’s a great place.
This property is deteriorated and in disrepair, website pictures do not reflect the true condition.
I rely on feedback from other travelers before making my final decision on renting, so feel compelled to share this experience. The condition of this home upon arrival was deplorable. My daughter and granddaughter both became ill on their first day with headaches and vomiting, continuing for 8 days. The back door was rotten, front door had a large chunk/gap. They secured cardboard and tape to try to keep cold air out. Entire home was roach infested (stove, bathtub, baseboards). My daughter heard gnawing at night, saw chunks of wood/shavings on the kitchen floor in front of kitchen cabinets, presumably from rodents. When reporting these concerns to the host (Dennis), he advised to send concerns in writing to VRBO.Second bedroom bedframe was ready to collapse. One bedroom door was previously kicked in, was so damaged the door wouldn't close. After 8 days of my family being sick (headaches and vomiting), I needed to move them for their safety and health. A friend had tried to light the burners on the stove, and discovered there was a gas leak, therefore shut off the gas to stove. As soon as they moved to another property on the 8th day, their headaches and nausea stopped, becoming apparent they were subjected to carbon monoxide exposure/poisoning. Avoid staying at this host's property.
We were in town for Thanksgiving, visiting my sister. Needed room to have Thanksgiving dinner with family, friends, and our pooch. Place was perfect, even has fenced yard for dog. We would definitely stay again!
Apartment served our needs and was convenient to area attractions/downtown. However, refrigerator should be replaced (broken drawer/shelves and freezer dripping in fridge). Also a few more things could be added (extra dish towels/cloths, potholders). Also, apartment could use a deep cleaning (including inside of oven which was filthy). Robert was very responsive and attentive to our requests. Overall, a decent place to stay.
