An hour from D.C. and a few minutes drive to fine casual waterfront dining at Solomon’s and Broomes Island. We provide beach towels, umbrellas, beach chairs, a cooler bag and a beach wagon. Also provided, on request, booster seat, playpen for the beach and a pack and play a child can sleep in. Kayaks are available (2 to 4), let us know if you need them. You will also find bed linens, bath towels, kitchen towels and all of the kitchen items needed to prepare a fine meal. A door from the kitchen leads to a screened porch that runs the length of the house. Bodhi’s Bay House has an open floor plan with a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, additional sleeping in the “nook” (a trundle under the stairs); two bedrooms upstairs share a jack-and-Jill bathroom and both walk out to a second story deck with water views of the bay and a balcony that looks down on the living/dining room. Parking for 5 cars. It was well-equipped for all our needs - cooking, beach-going, relaxing, playing games, and reading on the screen porch with bay views. It has an easy walk to a lovely beach that wasn't ever crowded. The property manager is nearby, friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. There is a great produce place not far that also sells local meat, dairy, and seafood - and we ate lots of delicious crab! The cottage was charming, beautifully appointed, and comfortable. We were delighted with its proximity to the private beach and access to amenities (such as the kayaks and other gear) that made it easy for us to enjoy as little or as much as we wanted. I urge others to check out the area--a gorgeous mix of hiking trails and wetlands, often leading to stunning views of the bay and hidden beaches. These were the best hosts we have had. They took extra steps to make our Christmas experience with the kids more fun. They even went out and bought ornaments for the kids to put up on a tree they added to the house just for our trip. The place is tucked away in a special place. Close to DC and many neat features in the area. They even offered more places and things to do to help make our time more enjoyable. This house is stocked like your grandma’s house and we wanted for nothing. We have 5 kids and they were able to stay upstairs comfortably and my wife and I enjoyed the downstairs area to ourselves in the evening. Our young family really enjoyed this spot and its comfort and convenience! It would be a 5 spot if the outside property had a little more TLC. The kitchen is well stocked and we had no problem finding cookware or whatever else we needed. Clean and you can tell a lot of thought went into the decor! I loved the colors, so bright and welcoming! We appreciated the baby gate and used it to block the stairs for our toddler. Our family enjoyed playing cards on the back patio and walking to the little beach by the house. We were able to find a few shark teeth and other fun treasures. It was a nice getaway!
