I noticed it was pet friendly on the site however I didn't expect it to be like this. I don't take my shoes off the whole weekend. The beds are definitely dated and when taking off linens for the departure we noticed several pillows were dingy and yellow. The ceiling fan is also disgusting (needs to be cleaned but probably buodated) I noticed another reviewer mentioned the fan as well, they do keep a huge box fan right outside for that reason I asume. Again it's a great location however it needs to be attended to a little more by the owner. ##### Shawna C. Dusty’s Dogs restaurant below was great food!! Only con was the short twin in the bedroom was very thin and uncomfortable. It was described as it was. We had no issues except a smell from the bathroom pipes. Bed in second room was awkward so my son slept on couch (he is 6'2") and it was just a little uncomfortable for him. The hot dog joint under was great and we never had issues with that, as a matter of fact, they were very kind and knew we were there. We were pleasantly surprised at the air conditioners as we were not expecting them. Kept us comfortable. Location is key here! Walk to ferry, restaurant, lake, and shops. Quaint and cute. Appreciate the hospitality. ##### Tamara M. The apartment is in a convenient location and is as described with a lot of space. The bathroom was not well cleaned, had an off smell, and the the shower was slow draining. The windows near the stair access also did not have locks which seemed like a safety issue to us. However, the views of the lake and the location made it a good landing spot for our trip. ##### Samantha O. Stayed 4 nights in Jul 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Jeremy N. 6 Jul 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Fantastic spot for 4th of July! This place is fantastic. Great location, just a five minute walk from the ferries and shops. Parking was easy, nobody bothered us, and you’d have no idea there’s a restaurant under you. Exceptionally clean bathroom, and a cozy spot to sleep. The owner added a couple of portable AC units, which was helpful. When we checked in, it was 80 inside. The view of the lake is worth the visit alone. We spent an afternoon just reading and watching the ferries go in and out. This is a prime spot for watching the fireworks on the 4th, if you enjoy doing that. They are right out the front window. The only recommendation might be more comfy seating. The couch sits two of us comfortably, and I wished for an armchair or recliner. Maybe bring a camping chair if there’s several of you. Otherwise I’d book this place next time I’m visiting the island! ##### Jeremy N. Stayed 3 nights in Jul 2024 ### 8/10 Good #### Sandy O. 11 Aug 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Great place for a home base I liked this place. It was conveniently located, near the ferry, shops and restaurants. It was equipped with the necessities and was clean. The view was wonderful, and we got to watch a drone show and fireworks all from the comforts of the living room. There are a couple of things to note, the temperature in the unit, was 86 degrees when we checked in. Even though there are 2 portable AC units, it took all night to cool off with fans strategically placed. The blinds on the front windows are helpful, but other insulating blinds on the other windows might help too, instead of the shear curtains. The couch is different than what's in the picture, which was clean and comfortable. The other chairs are a nice touch, but not overly comfortable. Overall, the place could use a little touch up on things, nothing that a handyman couldn't take care of. If we happen to be passing through again, I would stay there. It was a good home base to work out of, as we went to the island every day, and a comfortable bed to sleep in at night. ##### Sandy O. Stayed 3 nights in Aug 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Chris S. 12 Oct 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Trip to Mackinaw Our family of four stayed for a long weekend at this quaint little upper level rental. It sits above an active restaurant, however that was never an issue. There is one dedicated parking space and we did get blocked in by a food delivery truck for about 15 minutes, but luckily it didn’t affect our plans. It was clean, with nice furniture, but the place itself felt old in the sense that it is like any older U.P. homes and buildings. That was part of the draw when we rented it. The only issue was a sewer gas smell that emanated from the front bathroom on our arrival. We contacted the owner that next morning and he had a plumber at the rental within an out of our call. The problem subsided and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place has a fantastic view from the front window that allows you to look out into the street and over to the water. There are blinds for privacy and to block out the city light at night. It is minutes away from all of the docks that service the island. Very convenient. Overall it was a nice experience and we would consider staying again the next time we visit Mackinaw. ##### Chris S. Stayed 2 nights in Jul 2023 ### 4/10 Poor #### Chris F. 10 Jul 2022 Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy Disliked: Cleanliness, communication #### Could be great but needs some TLC and fine touches First of all the property is owned by a real estate firm that handles all the bookings so to access your check in information you have to register for a username on their website. The unit itself is in a great location within walking distance to several restaurants and gift shops down town and a couple minutes walk to the island ferry centers. The unit itself needs work. It sits directly above a burger and hot dog restaurant, so the heat from the restaurant downstairs works it’s way to the upper loft. Being in northern Michigan the unit did not have any air conditioning and was 77 when we arrived and got as hot as 80 degrees the following day. At night we opened the 3 windows in the unit that actually had screens to decrease the temp, but was very uncomfortable. The living room had a great view of the waterfront and dock, however the couch provided to use in the living room smelled strongly of urine of some kind, possibly dog, but the couch was unusable meaning there wasn’t really anywhere to sit other then the kitchen table and the bed. The shower had water pressure so high that my 8 year old couldn’t stand it without me having to adjust the flow from faucet. The drain did not work well and the tub would fill up to mid shin by end of short shower. The exhaust fan in bathroom didn’t work so had to leave door open to use. Both sinks in the kitchen also had draining issues and would fill with water when using. The unit just needs some work and some attention to detail. Things such as single ply toilet paper, screens for all windows, functioning exhaust fan, drain issues. Can’t say much about the property management as we didn’t reach out due to our short time in area and not wanting to hassle with things while we were in the unit. Honestly wouldn’t recommend unless updates are done to unit. ##### Chris F. Adventures This was the perfect stay for my visit. I ended up visiting Tahquamenon Falls on Saturday and Pictured Rocks on Sunday for the weekend I stayed, and this place in St. Ignace was a great hub to come back to after each of those day trips. This place is super close to Mackinac Island ferry access, so anyone looking to stay near the Island, this is a great spot to do so. Apartment as described with a beautiful view of the sunrise in the mornings. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great stay in the U.P., regardless of the trip itinerary! ##### Mary L.
