Chase the waves at Mawgan Porth (5.1 miles) or Watergate Bay (7 miles), a sweep of golden sand that's a firm favourite with families, or head to the legendary surf spot of Fistral (8.5 miles) to pull on a wetsuit and paddle out to catch a wave. Little ones will love spending a day at Lappa Valley (5 miles), where they can ride the narrow-gauge steam train or mess about on the boating lake. Or explore the dramatic coastline at the National Trust's Carnewas at Bedruthan (10 miles), where the cliff-top trails overlook towering rock stacks.
