Large Family Lake Oasis with exquisite log furniture charm!
Immerse yourself in our lake home's charm on Minnesota's Briggs chain of lakes, offering a unique blend of luxury and rustic decor. The large living space features handcrafted log furniture and themed rooms like 'The Bear' and 'Moose,' perfect for groups or large family gatherings. Enjoy the tranquility of lakeside living as you fish, boat, and swim. Create memorable moments in this carefully curated retreat. Experience more than just a stay; embark on a journey to the heart of lake country.
In under an hour's journey from the Twin Cities, and only 15 minutes from St Cloud, you'll arrive at a place that feels worlds away, deep in the heart of the north.
Pack up your boat, fishing gear, and all your favorite water toys. Whether you're casting a line from the dock or venturing about 200 yards out into one of Briggs Lake's prime fishing spots, you're in for a treat. Briggs Lake connects you to a network of waters, including Lake Julia and Rush Lake, with a kayak route to Elk Lake.
For your outdoor cooking needs, choose between our gas and charcoal grills. Enjoy the expansive one-acre yard, perfect for any game you bring along.
A short walk takes you to the local park, where you can enjoy a volleyball and basketball court, baseball fields, and a vast jungle gym for the kids.
This home boasts a stunning open layout, complemented by pine wall accents, and features a spacious wrap-around deck. Enjoy fishing from the dock, dipping your toes at the sandy beach cove, or engaging in water sports with your own boat. Our guest book is filled with fishing tales – though the truth of some may be as elusive as the fish themselves. Surrounded by large windows, the main level offers panoramic lake views through 27 of its 31 windows, alongside a kitchen adorned with granite countertops and a double oven.
The PALMER HOUSE carries a rich history, being the first home on Briggs Lake and reputedly the original area trading post. Boards from an early construction, signed and dated 1916 by those who built it, add to its historical allure. The main level features a unique wall covered with wood from an old train caboose, once a prominent feature of the property. Near the front door stands an operational hand pump from the original well, offering a refreshing drink of well water.
Legend tells us that Sinclair Lewis, the first American Nobel Prize laureate, once found solace and inspiration here, contributing to his literary achievements. Overlooking the same splendid vistas and breathtaking sunrises he once did, guests can explore a few of his novels available in the cabin, connecting with a bygone era.

We enjoyed this cabin on the lake, which was big enough for 8 adults, and our 1 dog was able to join as well! Host was very quick to respond to any questions/messages on the app, and it was an overall great stay/experience!
This was our third year staying at this house on Briggs Lake. Fantastic everything. Incredible view of the lake. Great lake access. 10 of 10 clean in all aspects. Great communication with host. Nothing but praise from our family for this property. Hope to make it back for years to come.
Our group of 9 family women had an enjoyable weekend. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck looking over the peaceful lake. It was also great having such a large table for meals and games.
Terrific property and location is great. House is immaculate and spacious. The lake is wonderful with almost a private feel. Small sandy beach was great for 4 year old grandson. Dock is very nice and shallow sandy bottom (some grass/weeds, but not much) was great for wading and floating. Already planning to return in 2024.
We needed a location for some rest and relaxation and this home was perfect. The views of the lake were the highlight as we listened to the loons.
There were many great exercise trails within easy driving distance and we could walk along the quiet road right by the home without dealing with too much traffic.
St. Cloud had some interesting restaurants and the kitchen was well appointed when we wanted to stay in and cook. Most appreciated was the dual style coffee maker for ground coffee or kuerig cups .
We hope to stay again at this spacious property.
The open area of the living space was perfect for all to visit. Bedrooms were fairly good.
The entire house was dusty and needed a thorough cleaning. The numerous dust catchers hanging on all the walls serves little purpose other than home for small bugs and dust.
Put some reflectors on parking areas.
The cabin is picturesque and gorgeous! Immaculate and modern- with a northwoods feel. Fantastic lake views- loved the wrap around deck. There were 13 of us and we all had plenty of space for being together or separate groups. We brought a boat and some water toys- our two dogs had a blast and were exhausted! Our 3 year old grandson caught his first fish off the dock. We played many card games on the deck and at the big table. kitchen is well equipped and very functional. We were thankful for the AC on the day it was 107 degrees outside! Neighbors were all very pleasant- great location. Thanks again! Very likely to return! Maybe Christmas ?
The cabin layout and size worked great for our group of 8 adults. It was in good condition with modern conveniences. Plenty of seating areas inside and a large deck. The kitchen/cabin was stocked quite well with the basics. We used the gas grill which was in good condition. Four of us golfed at a nearby course which was very nice. There were some minor things (ie. a loose toilet seat, an extra coffeemaker that didn’t work) that were small inconveniences. The two downsides to the property is the quite small “beach” area (which is fairly depicted in the photos) and the overall water quality of the lake. Algae clumps regularly collected on the shore so we never swam or waded there. We rented a pontoon from a local place and would anchor out further to swim. However even far from shore the water was pretty green with poor clarity. Something to be aware of.
This is our 3rd year in a row staying at this cabin. It's so serene and relaxing. The owners are wonderful, the cabin is well laid out with different areas to lounge on the main level, and you can't beat the lake.
We go with another family, so each couple takes a room with a Queen bed. We have 4 teens who share (and LOVE) the bunk room, and then the two littles either get their own rooms, or we invite another couple and then the littles share a Queen bed.
The kitchen is stocked with spices, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates, glasses, and cook wear, and there's a dish washer to keep things tidy. We love the dining table that can sit about 10. That's where we hang out to play games at the end of the day.
Also, they are 5 minutes from a convenience store and gas station that stocks non-oxy gas (if you know, you know). If your kids are on the jet ski for a lot of the day, this is SUPER convenient.
Things to know for new renters:
The upstairs can get warm. They have some fans up there, but if you like it cooler, you'll want to snag the bedroom on the main level. Also, if you have really little ones, be aware that you have to climb down boulders to get to the beach. We'd love it if they added stairs or a ramp and have considered bringing our own. But, we've been coming here since the youngest was about 4, and it's been fine.
All-in-all, I almost didn't review this place because I want to keep it to myself. If you're on the fence, I'd say push that button and book it.
This is a beautiful piece of property with wonderful views of the lake and a large wrap-around deck.We had a fun weekend with our daughters, their husbands, and our grandkids.
Host was very easy to contactHome was beautiful but did have a few items such as a couple of the mattresses need replacement sagged in middle and front porch light did not work. Driveway and walk to sidewalk was not paved and very slippery.
