Executive room (110), I had to fix the TV aerial, toilet wouldn't flush, light was broken, two single beds jammed together to make an uncomfortable queen/king? and worst of all, the little kettle didn't work in the morning.

I stayed here 51 years ago on my wedding night and I remember it as being quite a special and prestigious hotel. Its situation is lovely and on arrival seemed good, receptionist very helpful. The room 150 was basic and very thin walls and quite a bit of chat coming from outside. All in all we just needed a bed and breakfast was reasonable. But wouldn’t rush back.

The hotel rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. However the building is tired and old looking and the exterior really does need some serious TLC. The fire doors and exterior woodwork showed signs of wood rot and in desperate need of refurbishment.

I had cobwebs in our room and it generally had not been cleaned properly. Stains to carpet and worn. When I left my jacket which had been in wardrobe had a large spider in it. Having paid a significant amount for 2 nights stay very disappointed.

After booking and Paying I was told that they didn’t have a room for me. I was told by the hotel reception That: ‘there was nothing they could do and expedia allow more people book than they can accommodate’ I still haven’t received my money back and as a vunerable 71 year old woman on my own, at 22:00 and not offered any help finding somewhere else to stay that night was unacceptable. I felt panicked and tired and scared.

Avoid at all cost
I do not recommend you stay at this hotel. It is very dated clearly the smoke alarms don’t work because my room smelt like someone had been smoking cigarettes in there. The ceiling had an orange tinge to it. Young lad checking me in was not very polite. Also the hotel is like a maze you will need a sat nav to find your room. Thy gym is very very basic. Not a good experience at all

Great value for money
The hotel is very good value for money. I have stayed here twice and it does take quite a long time to walk to your room - the place is massive. However the hotel seem to do a good job of spacing people out and I have never had an issue with noise. The room has everything you need. Arrived late and still greeted by friendly people on the desk. No parking issues either. Would recommend.

No soundproofing
No soundproofing. Had to move rooms at 1am as people in next room talking and felt like they were in our room. Not there fault the building needs soundproofing to run as a hotel, it’s clean it’s convenient BUT needs to spend money on soundproofing. The next room not as bad but could still hear others upstairs. Wouldn’t stay again.

Good- warm room comfortable bed Poor - shower head had no adjustment re spray. Shower tray too shallow and quickly filled with water as drainage was unable to cope. Room window was draughty. Whole hotel was cold as was morning breakfast and coffee. Limited choice on bar menu - clearly wanted you to eat in the restaurant. Bar service was slow. Hotel was laid out like a rabbit warren and a number of guests struggled to find their rooms. Won’t be staying again.

Needs some attention
Not so good really, convenient location for my trip but room was not so great. Stains everywhere, some on the curtains that looked disgusting and definitely didn’t need to be there. Duvet cover had a rip in it that was a few feet long so exposed to duvet. No way house keeping could possibly miss this so it was knowingly put on. Hairs in bed. Didn’t stay for breakfast but they did have coffee in the lobby in the morning which was a nice touch

The staff are nice, but the environment is so dirty. The kitchen food is absolutely horrible. I was give cold steak even though I ordered and waited on stand, drinks are bad and expensive. Breakfayjs horrible.

The hotel served its purpose for what we needed. The hotel has seen better days I think. The staff were very nice and everything was clean. Hotel is away from the city and they had security. We felt safe. No noice whatsoever.

The first twin room we stayed in, was fine, not a bad size, including the shower room, but the fan wasn't working, of which we reported . The second room we stayed in, returning from our few days away, was tired, not really a twin room. On one side of the bed, there wasn't room for the bedside cabinet, the shower room was so small, that you had to shut the door to get in the shower, and the shower tray at the bottom not good to look at. The breakfast has a good choice of food, as in the bar. A good point is the parking.

Hotel was really good. Clean, food was fantastic they catered for allergies no problem. Staff were all very nice, friendly and welcoming. Especially the man who works behind the bar.

Reception a disaster because of staff shortage.
Only one stressed man on reception. We waited behind a, bus load checking in. He had to deal with angry guest, then sports team wanted to check in. No electric switches working, so he swapped our room... When he got a moment to breath. The management needs to support their staff and get more on reception.

Pleasant but could benefit from a luxurious touch
The hotel is well situated for business or leisure. Minor details are a setback to what could really be a gem. I was in a suite but not impressed by the stains on the couch, stains on carpet, glass chips on the coffee table, traditional shower curtain etc. Other than that, this would easily be a 10 star rating if deluxe and suites had a hint of luxury and cosiness.

A so-called 4-star hotel that I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Check-in was slow. They would not even take an order for food for 30 minutes due to kitchen being overwhelmed. The hotel has 130 rooms straddled across a large area so it took 2 whole minutes to get from reception areas to the rooms without any sign of porters. In the morning we were told we could not have breakfast because we hadn't booked it, which of course we had done on line and which we had already paid for on arrival the evening before. After much complaining they gave in, although they still disagreed. The only good thing about this hotel was that the beds were comfortable.
