Amazing, magical stay
We first visited Weeki Wachee about 2 months ago and fell in love. I knew I wanted to go back as soon as I could and am so happy I chose this house. The check in process was super easy and the house was pristine and very well equipped. The layout was perfect for our crew of 8 (blended family, 2 adults and 8 kids). Having the open bunk area right by the master bedroom door helped us keep an ear out for the kids at night. The beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. *Heads up for those with sensitive skin and hair: the water is very hard! Make die you bring a leave in conditioner and good lotion!* Now, the best part!!! The deck area is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We were outside enjoying the beautiful scenery as often as possible. The house is in a perfect location. The rental kayakers from the spring head are off-loaded about a mile up river, and the house is far enough up river that is stays pretty quiet and peaceful. The fishing was great!! We caught multiple mullet (12+ inches), sheepshead, snook, and a few smaller bass. It was really cool being able to see the fish track the bait and get hooked in the crystal clear water. The house comes with multiple kayaks, SUPs, life vests, floats, and everything you need to have a great time on the river. The kids absolutely LOVED jumping off the lower deck into the river! The current is pretty strong, so we made sure even our stronger little swimmers had their floaties. And finally…MANATEES!!

We absolutely loved the River Run Retreat! We saw so much wildlife and the location was amazing and peaceful. We kayaked daily and swam in the river non-stop! We hope to visit again!

Another Great Spring Break on The River!
We stay at River Run every year for Spring Break and it’s always perfect! The house is always very clean and well stocked with the essentials. This house has the “starters”, which usually only means a few toilet paper rolls, a few dishwasher detergents packs, a few garbage bags, etc, However, you actually get enough for a full weeks supply.at this house. No need to bring these with you or pick them up at the store which is great. The house is the closest VRBO to the head of the Spring which means you have some of the clearest water on the river to see the manatee, fish, turtles and other wildlife all day long while sitting on the deck, kayaking or swimming. The house has a full king en-suite and a loft with 2 huge bunk beds. There is a TV in every room, though we use them very little. Wifi is great since I have to have a few conference calls during our stay. They have also upgraded the BBQ covered area which is perfect when it’s raining - I never want to be inside while on the river, so cooking riverside is always a must. As I said earlier in my review, we come to the house at least once a year because of the location, cleanliness and great host - if you ever have an issue or a question they promptly respond and address any concerns. Thanks for another great stay at your home!!!

Great birthday celebration at River Retreat
This was a beautiful house in a gorgeous spot directly on the river. The pictures really don't do it justice. The house was well decorated, clean, well stocked with supplies (lots of towels, extra blankets, good kitchen equipment, etc) and had very comfortable beds. There were plenty of kayaks (I think 11 total plus a canoe and a paddleboard) and we spent our days on the river. We spent the evenings on the deck enjoying the outdoors, grilling, and watching the river and wildlife. The outdoor lighting and river lights were great; it was like a personal aquarium outside every night! We saw tons of fish, 4 manatees, an otter, many raccoons, a few deer and 2 owls. (Just fyi it was not an issue for us, but the in-fridge ice maker didn't work and there was no hair dryer). We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Excellent place to celebrate my birthday!

Our stay at RiverRun retreat was amazing! It is perfect, the amenities were great, the home was clean and well organized, absolutely beautiful! The location on the Spring is amazing! Waking up in the morning to the otter swimming around, the schools of fish, and the manatee were so relaxing. Being able to kayak, come back rest, and go right back out was amazing. A nature lovers dream! The neighbors and locals were very friendly! We will definitely be booking again and staying longer next time!!!

River paradise
We travel all over the state of Florida trying to find new places to explore and this is hands down one of favorite places in the state. The property sits overlooking the crystal clear water where you can see manatees, river otters a bunch of different fish. We spotted dear multiple times while kayaking on the river. The house was sparkling clean and well equipped with everything you could need!! Plenty of towels and beach towels also. Great communication with the owners and easy check in instructions!! The pictures don’t do this place justice. The wrap around upper deck was so peaceful in the mornings while drinking coffee and listening to the sounds do the river and forest. We can’t wait to come back!!!

We absolutely loved our stay. In my mind this is the best place on the river. The cabin is high quality, beds are comfortable, it's clean, and checking in and out is easy. My only complaint is that it was difficult to communicate with host about how many adult kayaks were on site. The information was inaccurate and resulted in us driving an extra vehicle to bring kayaks we didn't need. This is, however, a small complaint and now we know for next time. It could be easily remedied with info in the write up. For anyone wondering, there are 3 adults kayaks with back support--like the blue one you see in the photos.

Perfect location on the river
We (four adults) stayed at this home for three nights and were extremely pleased. The location was the best we saw on the river. We base this on the fact that we kayaked from the house to Rogers Park. The home was as advertised and, in fact, I thought the downstairs space was larger than what it appeared to be when I looked at the pictures online. Bullet points: Kitchen – everything we needed Comfortable beds Beautiful outdoor space. Comfortable outdoor furniture Plenty of covered space to get out of the sun A bug mister system – fabulous idea Plenty of kayaks and a paddle board We saw fish, manatees, turkeys, raccoons, a river otter, deer Would recommend!

We rent this great house 1-2 times a year and every time it’s great! During our most recent stay we of course kayaked, swam in the river and watched all the wildlife: manatee, raccoons, and had 5 deer visit the house in the early morning! For those who rent the house at least once a year, the only change this year was they removed the covered area where the grill was stored. I hope they bring that covered section back since I’ve had to grill in the rain a few times and the covered area was always such a bonus.

The river retreat is definitely a great stay! Such a fun and relaxing place to stay. The spring is right outside the door. We saw so much wildlife. The owner was so kind to help us book this cabin in a pinch. We loved our stay!

awesome location! far enough up the river to avoid the party scene but close enough to paddle down stream and people watch for a bit. lots of tree jumps upstream and downstream for the teenagers. The house had everything you'd need, although we weren't able to get the bug misters working. We will definitely be back!

The home is absolutely great, but the location is unbelievable. Right on the crystal clear spring-fed river. We saw manatees and otters in the water, raccoons across the river, plus a family of turkeys and chicks and a family of deer along the front of the house. Lovely.

Location was on point! Property was excellent! WiFi was very hard to come by. Wouldn’t have been an issue because it is truly about being outside (I had 6 17 yr old girls that wanted to post pics on Instagram and couldn’t because of bad WiFi) otherwise would definitely return and do it for probably longer! Thank you for a great experience!

My Paradise for the Summer
Love this place on the river. It is magical. This stay afforded me the opportunity to see a dolphin up close. The kayaks are well maintained and offer so much opportunity to venture out. Cant beat the scenery. Love the gas grill as we always cook out. The balcony off the second level really allows me to drink my morning cup of coffee and watch the wildlife from overhead. David and Tabitha do great things with this property and it is hard to ever think I could go anywhere else. I live 10 minutes from this house and it is worth every penny.

Great stay. We saw otters, manatee, and deer. The kids enjoyed it and view was great. There was a safe place on the side for the younger kids to swim. Plenty of kayaks/boats for everyone. The king bed is a private space directly next to the loft/on the 2nd floor. The bed was very comfortable.

The place is everything it is advertised to be and more. Fully equipped. Serene, beautiful, relaxing! We saw manatees right off our deck along with plenty of fish and a local otter came by on two different days. Everything we wanted to do and see were only a short drive away. We kayaked, rented a Jon boat, hired a charter captain to do some red fishing and went to The Weeki Watchee Springs State Park .

We loved this getaway! Right on the river. A bit more upstream than many other places, so it had less houses and less people, less noise, which was perfect. My husband adored the wood work. I felt like we were glamping , and it was perfect We used the kayaks, sat out on the decks, saw turkeys, deer, butterflies, heard owls. We saw many manatees down at Roger’s Park and by the boat launch. The water is so clear and blue. . It is definitely buggy at dusk, so bring your bug spray. It was perfect for us, and can easily fit 2 more people but I feel unless you are young or you are family, having too many more than that might be cramped. The second bedroom really has no privacy, which is fine if you are with your kids or good friends. If we return to Weekie Wachee, we will stay here again. Thank you for renting your place out.

I have started at David’s place numerous times and he just continues to improves the amenities. Love the privacy that the new fence affords. The river lights set a nice mood. New grill is wonderful. Property is always well maintained and the river location is gold. I hope I have the opportunity to always stay during the summer. This year is booked but I would book out for years if capable.

A stay like no other!
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway on the water, then look no further. This place has it all. The owners have clearly put in time and effort to make this your home away from home. The house was perfect for our family. The kitchen is well equipped with all of your starter needs like paper towels, trash bags, dish detergent, and dishwasher pods. The unique silverware is a must-see and fits in perfectly with the theme of the home. The rustic wood kitchen cabinets provided plenty of space to store your food. The pots and pans are in great condition and hopefully, future renters will keep them that way. The kitchen table is a beautiful live edge table that has space for 6 to sit comfortably. In the den, the reclining leather sofa is perfect to relax on at night and the tv is massive. The futon sofa off to the side gives guests additional seating and can pull out if they want to take a nap. The full bathroom downstairs is tastefully done and the natural stone shower makes you feel like you're in a spa. When heading upstairs, there is a very large window on your right that lets in great natural light and provides a view of the river. The upstairs has two sets of bunk beds which was perfect for our kids. Three of the beds were queen size and one was a twin. Another massive tv was set on top of the chest of drawers and provided great storage for the kids' clothes. In the master bedroom, you have an armoire full of extra towels, and another TV on top of the dresser which has 6 drawers for your clothes. There is another chest of drawers over by the washer and dryer and also a closet. You should have room to put away everything you packed. The bathroom in the bedroom has two sinks and plenty of storage. The natural stone shower in this bathroom is very similar to the downstairs and is just as nice. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the owner provides big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so don't fret if you left yours at home. Now to the outside. The upstairs deck has a beautiful view of the river and a hammock that my kids relaxed in every night. There is so much space up there and the deck wraps around both sides of the deck. Hopefully, the addition of another hammock or some rocking chairs for up there is in the works. On the bottom deck, there are four Adirondack chairs with a table in between, a gas fire pit, a couch, and two chairs. The Kayaks are a perfect addition and make it easy to enjoy the river. I can't wait to go back.

Another Great Stay At River Run
We have rented the house multiple times and always absolutely love it! For those who haven’t rented before, the house is a 1 bedroom with a king bed and then a connected loft area with two huge bunk beds. There is also a futon downstairs for another bed. The house is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy the river and laid back lifestyle. Tons of deck space, plenty of deck furniture right on the riverfront. The water is crystal clear and you get to enjoy all the wildlife. This visit we saw manatee, turtles, fish, birds, and even a huge owl. No deer during this visit, but tons of other wildlife. For those who have rented before, I’m happy to say now they have a washer and dryer and a new grill! We love this house and will of course be renting again!

Beautiful home on the river
This home is so very nice! Obviously re-modeled as everything seems new and in good working order. The beds are extremely comfortable! Kitchen was pretty well stocked. The deck and view of the river is fantastic. We loved having use of the kayaks and a place to launch. The steps are steep and slick on the inside of the home ( to the bedroom) so this would not be ideal for elderly or very small children. We found the neighbors to be a little too noisy for our taste ( music, tv, leaf blower etc) All in all - very nice, and a great location. We would return!

This is great spot for a relaxing vacation. We loved the location and the kids loved being able to swim in the river right from the dock. Highly recommend renting a boat from overnight boat rental (magnet on the fridge) to be able to see the area especially if you have kids that find the current a challenge to paddle in. My son is 12 and struggled in spots to get up the river in certain spots. The property is well maintained and was spotless. We already booked again for next year!

Wonderful property but not as described
We had such a great time here. It was an absolute wonderful property very close to many things. The most difficult part was that it is not a two bedroom. We made it work, the dishwasher fell out a few times, there is no washer and dryer. the separate two bedroom is actually a loft connected to the main bedroom by one door, but there is no privacy nor shades or blinds for that room. Otherwise, we definitely enjoyed our stay and made it work.

I have not responded to your review because I reviewed your stay before anyone had been to the house and was trying to get vrbo to delete it. You broke all the rules destroyed property which we have pictures of. You said you had 4 guests when in fact you had 12 in a house we have listed as sleeping 8, you were only supposed to have max of 3 cars you had 4 and a trailer. There was permanent marker on custom made dining table that now the top has to be refinished. someone in your party decided to drag a brand new Gheenoe(canoe with flat back) across the concrete causing damage through the paint into fiber glass. You reached out at no time during your stay letting anyone know about the screw that had fallen out of dishwasher so we could have quickly repaired it. We would have much preferred that to the extra cleaning fee we were charged by our cleaning team because because of the disgusting mess you left in the kitchen. Our description of the house is on point as it states the second sleeping area is a loft and in fact provides pictures of sleeping arrangement in said loft. I am sure privacy would have not been an issue had you only had the amount in party you claimed to have. Thank goodness we require insurance to cover cost of brand new Ganoe and refinishing of table.

Beautiful home and wildlife paradise
My Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Run Retreat. We loved eating breakfast outside every morning and seeing all of the wildlife. We saw an otter catching a fish, 8 manatees, a racoon, 5 deer, 9 turkeys, and so many beautiful waterbirds. At night we sat outside listening to all the sounds of wildlife from frogs and owls. The well lit porch makes it easy to see the fish in the water in the evening. I have stayed at several homes along the river and this by far is the best location. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the decor is beautiful. It was exceptionally clean and well kept. There are plenty of kayaks to choose from. There is also a fire pit and hammock. We hope to stay at River Run Retreat again soon.

What wonderful memories!
What a great place to stay for my large family! Being right on the river allowed us to have ample time to kayak, or just sit and relax in the tranquility of nature that surrounds this quaint cabin. We saw manatees right from the dock! We will definitely be returning!
