Shimmers is a light and airy modern townhouse style villa. This spacious 2354 sq ft home is situated in Battaleys Mews on the Platinum Coast between Holetown and Speightstown.
Nestled in a gated community of only 30 homes with 24/7 security, guests can enjoy a luxurious swimming pool area with a clubhouse and bar alongside a large, secluded garden with ample sitting and picnic areas ideal for reading, respite from the hot sun underneath mature trees and humming bird spotting!! Guests may also make use of a superb hard tennis court, a small gymnasium and a children play area.
Shimmers is an ideal spot to be based on this wonderful Caribbean island. It is a short walk from the world famous Mullins beach with its sensational shoreline, watersports and fabulous bar/restaurant with weekly live music.
A bus hop away or 5 minute drive will take you to Lone Star, arguably the most hip restaurant on Barbados. Adjacent is Santi, a truly idyllic beach and bar with food which is perfect for turtle and celebrity watching! There are many other food service establishments nearby to suit every pocket from casual street food to elegant high end cuisine. A comprehensive list of these will be available on your arrival at the property.
Offering 3 air conditioned bedrooms that sleeps 6 in comfort, Shimmers has a tranquil master bedroom with glazed doors and balcony overlooking the mature flora and garden. It has a super king 4 poster bed with muslin drapes and a huge ensuite bathroom featuring his and hers basins, a deep set bath with views onto the tropical panoply and a large walk in shower. Quality coordinating towels complete the refreshing experience!
The 2nd bedroom has a Queen size 4 poster bed and the 3rd benefits from twin beds with colourful exotic fabrics. All 3 bedrooms have fine quality linens, ample storage and wardrobes. The family bathroom has a walk in shower and is immaculately finished in marble with luxury towels.
Downstairs an entrance lobby leads to a comfortable and large open plan living area with flat screen tv, matching sofas, easy chairs and a dining table and chairs. Feature archways lead to a spacious and fully fitted breakfast kitchen with electric hob, oven and grill, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher and lots of top quality cookware, cutlery and glasses.
The living area has French style doors opening to the rear terrace with a refreshing private plunge pool - ideal for cooling off and sipping cocktails ( we even provide equipment and non breakable glasses with this purpose in mind ! ) There is an outside dining area and soft chairs overlooking a superbly maintained private garden.
There are full time staff at Battaleys Mews in the event of you having any queries and Shimmers comes with a weekly maid service which includes cleaning and change of towels and bedlinen. A twice weekly service is available as an option.
Although Barbados is considered a safe island to visit, guests, particularly those with children will appreciate that 24 hr manned security offers a peace of mind when you are a long way from home.
There can be few finer places from which to explore Barbados. Shimmers is a pristine home which is lovingly maintained by ourselves - we have been coming to the island for many years and have lived here for some time with our children attending school in Bridgetown. This first hand local knowledge led us to choose Battaleys Mews as THE place to be based on the beautiful tropical island of Barbados.

"Shimmers" is one of the best places we have stayed on the island and we have been coming for a good few years. We have stayed in some lovely places and some shabby but this is definitely in the former category. The house feels brand new with lovely linen and towels, a superb kitchen and the whole layout exudes calm and relaxation which is what we needed. The maid came twice a week and in this respect it is akin to staying in a hotel but with complete privacy. Of course its on the golden coast and we did not venture far - no need everything we wished for was very close to hand. We understand that we were amongst the first guests to stay at "Shimmers" and the owners seemed to have thought of everything we needed- and more!! As we write this review we are in the process of arranging our return visit next year and cannot wait to return!!

Nearest supermarket is 5 mins drive in Speightstown, although petrol station is <5mins walk to buy basics (water, milk, bread and snacks only).

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Shimmers. Marcia was incredibly helpful, from the lead up to our arrival to once we had arrived and she even came by to send us off! The villa was very spacious and immaculately clean with all of the amenities we could ask for. We loved sitting outside in the private backyard, and my daughter enjoyed the plunge pool. Great location for beautiful beaches and good restaurants. All in all a fabulous vacation!

#### Stylish, spacious and comfortable villa for 4 adults and 2 children in a great location
We had an amazing time at Shimmers. The villa is perfect for a large family or group of friends as all bedrooms are large, the two bathrooms stylish and the kitchen and living areas open plan and spacious. Well kitted out with towels and kitchenware etc. Marcia the housekeeper is excellent, very responsive and helpful which was particularly appreciated by us as we unfortunately had no water or intermittent water for a few days due to a leak nearby. She kept us updated and organised plumbers, fresh water supplies etc. Be warned that the water pressure in the showers in the villa is not as efficient as it is in the UK. The villa has a lovely communal pool and is a 5 minute walk from Mullins beach. A wonderful bar and restaurant called Bombas is also 5 mins away - try their lobster curry and Pina Colada - as is a very convenient 24 hour shop for necessary supplies. Overall a great stay in a lovely villa very well placed for the beach and buses for access up and down the West coast. Would highly recommend.

#### "Shimmers" Review
The house is perfectly situated on the Platinum Coast and close to the great beaches. We walked to Mullins in less than five minutes and Speightstown is only fifteen minutes. The house was clean and felt brand new. The Battaleys Mews compound is fabulous, we played tennis and swam during the whole stay. There are plenty of green monkeys to see although they are shy and high tail it (literally) when they spot you. The kitchen is a great size and we could prep and cook in style. Eating out by the plunge pool we felt like we had the Island to ourselves – such is the peace and quiet. There were 5 of us in the party but it sleep 6 comfortably. We only used the aircon at night but it chilled the rooms down in minutes. That said the house has very thick walls so even when it was 34 degrees outside the room were all bearable. Its nicely furnished with some real quirky features. We’ll be back!
