About this property

Elevated Ocean view of Harbor, walk to village, pet friendly, deck, wifi and AC.

  • Locally owned by an Island family of several generations, Osprey Nest is the private 2nd story apartment of a duplex with private deck. Located on an elevated property across the marina, offering wonderful views of Southwest Harbor and across to the Cranberry Isles. Walk into town and enjoy shopping & dining in the village of Southwest Harbor and leaving your car behind.

    Acadia National Park and more than a dozen trailheads are within a 5 min. drive from the house with a bus stop across the street.

    Luke and Jackie are year round locals from an Island fishing family of over 100 years. We live next door and are more than happy to share our ideas for hiking, biking, canoeing/kayaking, tours, and dining.

    We are avid animal lovers and welcome well behaved and well mannered pets after discussing your pets with us ahead of time. We reserve the right to deny pets if necessary. We lost Maggie, or original Black Dog in '23, but our new little black girl Lucy lives next door with us now. If you can't bring your pets and want a visit, I'm sure Lucy can schedule some time into her busy schedule for you to throw the ball for her. We also have a little "bobcat" named Lily that likes to perform acrobatics on various hand rails across the property.

The property was very clean and spacious. It has great views of the marina and harbor. The firepit on the deck was a nice touch since it got chilly at night. Walking distance to downtown made it even that more enjoyable.

The location was excellent - great combo of having a view as well as a very short walk to the little town. We visited Bar Harbor and were extremely happy we decided to stay in the leas congested SW Harbor.

Loved it. Super comfy. Walking distance to town, beautiful view. I would highly recommend. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia, but had the peaceful beauty out of the bar harbor crowds, which was perfect. Had a dog, and it was perfect for him. Loved the porch.

Enjoy the view at Osprey’s Nest

We had a relaxing stay in Southwest Harbor and Luke and Jackie were very responsive hosts. The apartment was spacious, updated and located on the quieter side of the island and had a glorious view of the harbor.

Overall nice stay with great view of the harbor. Comfortable beds. Kitchen is well equipped. Can hear muffled voices from the downstairs unit. Would be ideal to have a large group and rent both spaces.

Beautiful views of SW Harbor

We loved our week in SW Harbor and the rental was perfect for our family of 4. The unit is on the top floor, had incredible views of the harbor, we spent most nights on the patio. The gas fire pit was very nice on the cooler nights. The hosts were so nice and very responsive, shared several great hikes that were perfect for our kids ages 7 and 9. We loved steaming lobster a couple nights in the outdoor lobster cooker, Luke was very kind to show us how to use it. Overall it was a fantastic rental in a beautiful and very walkable little town filled with shops and restaurants. Loved our stay!

Great Getaway

This property was perfect for our needs. It was only a short drive to Acadia NP and other local favorites, walkable into the local square/island explorer bus stop, was clean and had a beautiful upper deck! Luke & Jackie were excellent hosts! We had a terrible storm blow through overnight one night and we lost power for a few hours. They had a generator hooked up and our power back on before we even had a chance to reach out. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful, Quiet Home-base for Acadia

Our stay was fantastic! It was extremely clean and perfectly accommodated 3 people with our own rooms. The deck view of the harbor was serene and a perfect place to read after a long day of hiking at the park. It was an easy 15-20 minute drive, give or take, to all the trailheads of hikes we did in Acadia National Park. Between the kitchen and grill, we comfortably cooked at home most of the nights during our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice alternative to the hustle of Bar Harbor, but still wants to be close to the park. Luke was also very responsive. We will definitely be coming back in the future!
