Ideal for family getaways! - Backs to National Forest - Hot Tub, Fast free Wi-Fi
Welcome!
If you are headed up to Tahoe for some family time or just want to relax and unwind this might be just the place...have a look and let us know if you have any questions. We are actively involved in the management of our cabin and our goal is to ensure all of our guests have a great vacation.
Location: * Backs to El Dorado national forest and North Upper Truckee river * Large lot to the right is also undeveloped/forest area * Quiet, friendly neighborhood * Easy access, level road, cul-de-sac privacy w/limited traffic * Situated mid-way between Sierra and Heavenly ski resorts (10-15 mins to either) * About a mile to grocery, restaurants, gas stations, ski rental, golf * 15 minutes to downtown and casinos * Hiking and biking from your back door
Avoid the crowds and congestion of downtown Lake Tahoe while being within 10-15 minutes of most local attractions. Reduce your commute time from Bay Area or Sacramento and cut off some of the heavy Friday/Sunday commute traffic in and out of downtown.

It's a very nice, comfortable home that we've done our best to outfit with everything a guest might need to enjoy their stay.
Amenities: * Private Hot Tub (brand new Oct 2022) * Charter cable TV and wi-fi * Propane BBQ w/ extra tanks * Ski racks, boot and glove drying station * Much more...

Other: * Owner operated and managed - personalized attention and pride of ownership
If you like hiking, biking, snowshoeing or just relaxing on the deck or in the shaded hammock, we think you'll really enjoy your stay.
A few important words about guest and stay expectations As you may be aware, South Lake Tahoe along with many other destination resorts have been challenged by the recent increase in the number of vacation home short-term rental units and their potential effects on residential neighborhoods. This has led to widespread discussion among the public and County Board of Supervisors on how this should be regulated. New regulations have been put in place for both owners and renters as a result and penalties and fines for non-compliance are stiff. Owner requirements include permits, inspections, record keeping and reporting as well as others. Guest requirements are also detailed and I will try and summarize some of the key ones below.
Most guest related issues have centered on 3 or 4 areas:
* parties, music and noise * exceeding occupancy limits * parking complaints, trash issues * fire safety
A few words about each, as required by all owners with valid permits for vacation home rentals in El Dorado County.
Noise:
Noise has been the #1 cause of complaint for short-term vacation rental properties. We understand that our guests visit to unwind and relax, but we ask guests to always respect the neighbors and neighborhood and be aware that local residents, many of whom are retired, live there full time and should not be unreasonably disturbed. Violations are subject to fines and/or removal from property. Any fines received due to guest behavior are guest responsibility. The fine schedule from the county starts at $1500 for first offense and goes up from there.
Quiet hours are defined as 10pm to 8am and during this period it is not permitted to:
* exceed noise level limits * utilize hot tub * have more people in house than allowed by permit (for any reason)
Occupancy limits
As mentioned above the new formula for occupancy is 2 people per bedroom or 8 people excluding children 5 years of age or younger. During the day you are allowed to have visitors and exceed the occupancy limit provided the group is not causing any disturbance or creating parking issues. During quiet hours the occupancy limit can not be exceeded at any time for any reason.
Parking
Our property has approved parking for up to 6 cars, weather permitting. The garage holds 2 and the driveway can hold up to 4. Snow parking restrictions are in place whenever snow removal may be required or between Nov 1st and April 30th. Renters and guests must not block access and must comply with all neighborhood parking rules.
Trash management
Wildlife preservation is important and wildlife contact with humans is largely a function of food availability. We warn all guests about the risk associated with leaving food in cars, as well we are required to notify guests regarding the proper use of the bear resistant (bear box) garbage container near the end of the driveway. This container holds 3 large garbage cans and garbage/refuse can be stored there safely. To use the bear box simply operate the lever on the front door to open, ensure all garbage is contained inside one of the cans in the box, and close the box securely by pushing on the front door until the latch is engaged. It is a violation of code to put leave garbage outside the house unless it's in the bear box. If the bear box fills up please leave bagged garbage in the garage area and our cleaning team will dispose of it properly.
Fire safety
We have converted the fire pit in the back yard to a fire table area (propane based) for guest comfort and safety reasons. Open fires, even in fire pits, are prohibited without a valid campfire permit issued by CALFIRE and may also be prohibited by state or local fire bans. Fireworks are also banned at all times inside the Tahoe basin area.
Violations
Renters must understand that they are legally responsible for ensuring compliance of the entire guest group with all requirements. Examples of violations are noted as above and include quiet hours violations, occupancy violations, hot tub use after 10pm and other nuisances to the neighborhood. Penalties for violations can go to either renter or owner and owner fines assessed due to guest behavior will be charged to the booking responsible guest. As well, for serious infractions immediate eviction may occur.
* 1st violation: up to $1500 (or as determined by code enforcement) * 2nd violation: up to $3000 ...and it goes up from there.
It's our goal to be a great vacation rental location....great for our guests and also great for our neighbors. We have a great relationship presently with our neighbors and they often go out of their way to help our guests. Our goal is to keep it that way and your help is much appreciated.
None of these requirements is special for our home...they are all part of the process for any legally operating VHR. If you have any questions regarding any of the above please ask. Also you can find the El Dorado County VHR related ordinances on their webpages.
COVID Update
The COVID situation can change rapidly. We encourage potential guests to educate themselves about risk factors associated with travel and lodging, especially when planning trips that may involve people from multiple households. Because of this we strongly recommend that guests consider purchasing trip/travel insurance which allows guests to 'cancel for any reason'. Be sure that the particular policy you choose covers COVID related issues. We also encourage all of our guests to observe recommended health protocols and be aware of changing conditions.
Note: NoiseAware monitoring is being tested on site. NoiseAware is a company that's teamed up with short term rental pr advertising sites to offer rental property owners the ability to receive alerts if noise levels exceed set thresholds. The idea is that if the homeowner/property manager can receive a real-time warning then they can contact the guests and hopefully manage the situation before neighbors complain and expensive tickets get written. NoiseAware only monitors sound levels...it doesn't record conversations or activities. If you have concerns about NoiseAware or would like to learn more, please contact me.
Note: When you come up to Tahoe be aware that there is wildlife in the basin, including black bears, coyotes and the occasional mountain lion. They are part of the flavor of Tahoe and while we love to see them it makes sense to take precautions. We suggest reading about Tahoe wildlife and making sure you take basic steps such as not leaving food or scented items in your car if parked outside. Bears in particular have a keen sense of smell and have been known to damage vehicles in search of food.

Everything about our stay was amazing. Bob was a fantastic host, and the cabin was perfect for a family getaway. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy time together. The location and atmosphere made it easy to unwind, and we would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great family escape!
I liked the close location to Sierra Ski Ranch, and Heavenly Kirkwood also nearby. The house was well stocked with all the essentials. The backyard was perfect for playing in the snow. The house was very nicely kept with all the modern appliances and entertainment features. Two spaces in the garage was appreciated in snowy weather.
One of the best homes we have stayed at in Tahoe. Beautiful setting, well stocked, clean and comfortable home, great communication with owner. We will definitely try to stay here the next time we visit Tahoe.
We have been coming to this cabin annually for many years. Bob is a wonderful host, the house comfortably fits our large clan with plenty of room to stretch out, and you can’t beat the location. This place is a true gem!
Had a wonderful weekend. The house was perfect with two separate living areas both with a fireplace, tv, etc. Not only fireplaces but plenty of kindling and oak logs for warm fires as the almost fall nights are starting to get chilly. Poker table! The house had everything we needed, perfect location, ample parking and a huge hot tub. Great communication with Bob who gave us generous check-in and checkout times and all the information we needed for our stay. Oh, and a bottle of wine to welcome us!
Bob was very attentive and a wonderful host. We love all the hike and fun recommendations for the kids. The bumper pool was a lot of fun. Love that the kitchen is well equipped with spices, crockpot, rice cooker, waffle maker, and coffee grinder. We would love to stay there again.
Great place that’s close enough to a lot of must see spots when visiting Tahoe. We visit yearly but normally stay in hotels, this year we decided to rent a place and bring friends, and it did not disappoint! Feels like returning home vs a rental after each days adventure.
Family reunion in Tahoe! This was a perfect house for 8 adults. It was unseasonably warm but the fans and cool night air made the lack of air conditioning ok. We thoroughly enjoyed our second year here and hope to return next year! The host is AMAZING and the house is so clean and well equipped!
This generous-sized, comfortable, and well-appointed home sits next to a beautiful forested area just across 50 from Meyers. It was perfect for both our Kirkwood skiers and those who wanted to stay and wander about. Bob is a thoughtful and diligent communicator. Highly recommended!
Our family had a perfect stay at this home. The house was perfectly suited for our family of 10, including young children. Location was great (away from the rush of downtown South Lake, but still close to all of the great attractions; with trails and forest literally in the back yard). The home was very well equipped and had everything we needed and more. The owner/host, Bob, was highly available, accessible, accommodating, and kind. Thank you for a fantastic stay!!
My family loved our stay, we hiked swam and relaxed all week. We’re planning on scheduling a winter trip. The property is gorgeous and has trails right out the backyard. Close enough to markets and restaurants that it’s super convenient. Neighbors are all friendly and happy to say hello. Comfortable beds and warm showers with all the fun of camping included. And communication with Bob was the best!!!!
Great communication from the host, before, during & after! Beautiful views, clean, cozy & well taken care of. Good internet & the kitchen is stocked well! They even had humidifiers & fans in each of the rooms for great comfort options. Very considerate & hosts even offered great suggestions for things to do around the area. Right down to the best spot to watch the sunset! Wonderful experience!
This house was perfect for our family. The neighborhood is close to stores and Heavenly Village. It’s spacious enough for folks to get their privacy and relax while making it easy to gather as a family for dinner or game nights. It is incredibly equipped with kitchen utensils, and even some pantry items like spices & coffee. We had a full day of snow and the next day, the backyard became the perfect snow play area for the kids. Bob, the host is fantastic at communicating and checking in. This property was better than we expected!
Our stay at this cabin was nothing short of magical! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm and cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The cabin was beautifully maintained, with all the comforts we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. The location was perfect—secluded enough to feel like a peaceful retreat, yet conveniently close to local attractions and necessities. Whether we were exploring nearby trails or simply sitting by the fire, every moment felt special. What made this stay truly unforgettable was the time we spent together as a family. Watching my children experience the joy of nature, play games by the fireplace, and share laughter over home-cooked meals created memories we will cherish forever. It was the perfect place to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life and reconnect with what truly matters. If you’re looking for a cozy, well-located cabin where you can create meaningful memories, this is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!
I don’t even know where to start on how absolutely wonderful the home is! First of all, we were visiting Tahoe for thanksgiving. An amazing time of year to visit. The home had a very well stocked kitchen that we were able to cook for an army (or Marines, my preference) without a single hiccup! All the utensils you might need, plus a few for the baby to toddle around with. The property was clean, inviting, comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from our own. There was a pack n play, a highchair for the baby, plenty of towels and blankets, and wood for the fireplaces that we kept warm by our whole visit. I really could go on forever about what a gem Bob the owner has, but he himself is a gem! Great communication. Kept in touch. Let us know he was available should anything arise. Nothing did. Wonderful stay, absolutely would book to stay here again and again if we could.
We really enjoyed staying in this house and Bob is a fantastic host. The house is located in quiet part of Meyers, just above the Upper Truckee. The house itself if quite comfortable and although we planned on going with friends, they had something at work come up. Easily a family with older kids or two friends would be very comfortable as there is both an upstairs and downstairs sleeping area. The house would have been perfect for us when our kids were younger. The entire downstairs area has two rooms a sitting room with a second TV The upstairs has a master room and an another room. Bob was extremely friendly and responsive and made sure we were comfortable. We really loved the hike to Osgood fed which we turned into a 8 mile loop trail, but that is not necessary. The hike to the truckee is just walking to the end of the property and catching the trail that then is a block or so from the river. I love fly fishing and the upper truckee has plenty of trout, albeit they are very easily spooked and you probably have to be able to use a fly rod. But, I caught the largest was 11-12 inches, but most are 3-6 inches. For those who care, Griffith knit, X-Caddis and Sierra bright dot were all effective dry flies. Most of the fish lie in holes beyond logs in the stream or in the undercut of banks. We also were advised by Bob to try Fallen Leaf lake and this is quite beautiful and secluded. Be prepared for a one lane road but it was worth it to see the Alpine Falls.
