Things to Know Before You Arrive
South Fork offers cool mountain temperatures, fresh alpine air, and four-season recreation. Please keep the following in mind while planning your stay:

• No air conditioning: Air conditioning is uncommon in the Rocky Mountains because of the cool mountain climate. Summer evenings are typically comfortable, and opening the windows allows the fresh mountain air to cool the cabin naturally.

•Starter Pack of Essentials
To help you settle in comfortably, the home includes a starter supply of basic consumables for your arrival. These items are intended to get your stay started and may not be sufficient for your entire visit, especially for larger groups or longer stays.

Starter supplies may include:

• High altitude: South Fork sits at approximately 8,200 feet above sea level. Drink plenty of water, avoid overexertion on your first day, and allow time to acclimate if you're arriving from a lower elevation.

• Mountain weather: Conditions can change quickly. Pack layers, rain gear, and appropriate footwear regardless of the season.

• Wildlife: Deer, elk, foxes, black bears, moose, and other wildlife are common throughout the area. Please observe wildlife from a safe distance and never feed wild animals.

• Winter travel: Snow and ice are common during the winter months. Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with appropriate winter tires or traction devices is strongly recommended, especially when traveling over mountain passes or to Wolf Creek Ski Area.

• Limited cell service: Some mountain roads and trails have limited cellular coverage. Download maps before heading into remote areas.
