Visited in early May 2013, and was almost the only person there for a couple of nights wanted a peaceful break, but that was almost too much! I was the only non-Mexican, so some Spanish was useful (although most of the staff speak good English).
Food was OK, but not great, although the service was friendly and efficient.
Upgraded to a "villa suite" (villa with two suites and shared area), which was quite nice (had it all to myself most of the time), but the beds are hard by Cdn standards (although typical of many Mexican hotels).
The clothing-optional beach was OK, although there was probably more opting-in than -out.
The weather was good sunny every day but the wind off the Pacific was cool, and the sea was also much colder than the Caribbean. The main beach was no good for swimming or snorkelling anyway.
A major aspect to be aware of is that Punta Serena Villas and Spa is twinned with a regular resort (Blue Bay) just to the north along the bay, and guests at Punta Serena have full access to Blue Bay restaurants, bars, water sports (e.g., they will take you by boat to good snorkelling localities for a reasonable fee). Blue Bay is also on a much longer beach, and although definitely not clothing-optional, it's nice for a morning jog.
Punta Serena doesn't seem to be on the foreign tourist map, so if you want a more Mexican-flavoured getaway this might be for you. Relatively easy to get to from Manzanillo airport (about 1 hour, 700 pesos each way by regular taxi).
