The best area to stay in Sos is within the historic walled town itself.

This compact medieval town, officially known as Sos del Rey Católico, is built around its castle and the Church of San Esteban. Its narrow, cobbled streets wind between well-preserved stone houses, many dating back centuries. The entire town is a pedestrian-friendly zone, offering a truly authentic experience of Aragon's history.

Couples seeking a romantic getaway will find the historic centre particularly appealing. Staying within the walls means you're just steps away from the town's charming restaurants, artisan shops, and historic sites like the Lonja and the Palacio de Sada (the birthplace of Ferdinand II of Aragon). The evenings are quiet and atmospheric after the day-trippers have left, superb for a relaxed stroll.

Families will also appreciate the convenience and character of staying within the walls. Children can explore the castle and the ancient fortifications, and the car-free streets mean they can wander freely (with supervision, of course).

The best time to visit Sos, Aragon, is during the spring or autumn months, specifically from April to June and September to October. These periods offer pleasant weather conditions ideal for exploring the historic town and surrounding natural beauty.

During spring, the countryside around Sos bursts into bloom, making it a beautiful time for walks and enjoying the scenery without the intense heat of summer. The temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, great for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Autumn also provides agreeable temperatures, usually between 18°C and 28°C, and the landscape takes on lovely golden hues. This season is particularly good for those who appreciate a quieter experience, as the main summer rush has subsided, allowing for a more relaxed visit to the town's attractions, like the Castle of Sos del Rey Católico.

While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. If you plan to visit in summer, be prepared for warmer conditions and consider focusing your activities on the cooler parts of the day.
