This was precisely the quiet, comfortable, mildly quirky retreat I needed. Superbly located a short walk from the gallery on a quiet, residential street. The breakfast was wonderful - continental, but with an excellent selection of cold cuts, breads and fresh fruit, so significantly superior to over-heated hot buffet breakfasts in soany of the big chains.
Travel travails meant I was late for the usual check in window, but they very helpfully provided the code, etc so it was a smooth process for self check-in.
Nice touches in the room, including a record player, nespresso machine and pleasant furnishings. WiFi worked well for work. Plenty of sensibly placed plugs and charging points.

The guy at the reception counter was incredibly nice - he helped me out with the wifi situation. The wifi wasn't working for a couple of days and I had to use my data (boo) but that's not their fault - I just took it up w/ IT. The rooms were nice and felt secure as a student travelling abroad. It was close to downtown which was a perk - everything was within walking distance. I'd definitely recommend this place to future student travelers.

"This obviously would have been a very grand hotel in its heyday. It's no longer grand but still rather wonderful - high ceilings and huge windows with sea-views. Unpretentious and perfect if you're travelling with kids/dogs/any animal that you might normally worry could do harm/cause annoyance - ..."
