"Couple of niggles. Nothing to do with The pub/hotel, just us. No shelf in shower to put shampoo etc on. not enough cabinet/table tops to put your 'stuff' on for a 3 night stay. Room was on the colder side, which suited my wife. I would have preferred it a little warmer, but I am a person who feels the cold. That aside, we would definitely return. The staff were friendly and great, did all they could to make us feel welcome. Home made biscuits on first night, a chocolate assortment on second night was a lovely touch. Room was spot on. Fittings done to a very high standard. Regarding the food, not a lot on the menu, but cooked to a very good standard. The crumble and creme anglaise was the best I've ever had for dessert. Breakfast was good, however for a claim to be a five star establishment they could have provided pastries such as croissants etc. In what I would call the bar area, it was small, only 3 tables in front of a proper fire. if you don't manage to get one of those tables, there are other areas but you feel as if you're being pushed out of the way. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the three nights we were there. In a nutshell, helpful friendly staff, good, although limited food, good rooms and very relaxing."

"Although the building could do with a little tlc in places, our room was large, clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent and bar food really good too. The bar area is fairly small and well used by locals but we did find a table both nights we were there. The biggest plus for us were the staff who are efficient and friendly and we wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area. It’s in a quiet area but there are plenty of walks and an ideal base for exploring other towns and sites."

"Everything very good , room on the smallish side but only to be expected in old buildings like this. Very clean and well presented. Breakfast wonderful and the car parking really added bonus."
Throstle Nest Farm

"We had a fabulous stay at Throstle nest farm. The stone building is beautiful and so are the views. Close to plenty of places to eat. Our family room was spacious and well equipped, with en-suite bathroom. The lounge/ dining room has a huge inglenook fireplace and two huge comfy sofas. Tea & coffee you can help yourself to as well as in the rooms. There was a good selection for breakfast and it was lovely. The staff were lovely and very helpful, regarding places to eat etc. We will definitely be back."

"We stayed here on our Dales Way walk. The food was amazing. We stayed in the Manor House in one of the 2+2 rooms. Very cosy, clean and well appointed. Great dinner and equally yummy breakfast. Staff were all A1. Thanks"
