We stayed 5 nights. Wish we would have more time. Not far off the main road, but, we heard only a miminal amount of noise. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. Be prepared for a bit of a climb up the driveway. We traveled from sw michigan and appreciate the accommodations
We enjoyed the beauty and solitude. The view is even better than the photos show. We had a great time watching a heard of elk and antelope on the foothills and listening to cows and coyotes. The house was well equipped and comfortable. We experienced thunder storms, strong winds, beautiful sunrises, and starry nights. Expect a remote cabin experience, there are some cute critters running around the property. Our host was very responsive to all our questions and we hope to be able to come back again.
The access road and surrounding terrain is steep as it is on the side of the mountain. The front porch and back porch steps could use handrails, so you have something to hang onto. The Shower handle in the Master Bedroom fell off the first day and I contacted owner and we agreed for me to run to the hardware store and purchase the tool needed to fix it and he would re-imburse me for the costs. I fixed the handle and left the tool for the owner. The views from the house are outstanding. This ranch house is noisy at night with the wind blowing and creaking floors and doors. The hot tub cover had blown open during a storm on the first night of our stay and Debree had gotten into the tub so we could not use it. It was a real bad storm with over 50 MHP Wind gusts, not the owners fault. The Master Bath Shower according to my mom never got hot enough for her, but my dad said it was hot enough. So if you like a really hot shower you may want to use the guest Bathroom as it was really hot.
We were in a perfect spot that was away from the bigger cities but not too far! The cabin is very cozy and felt so easy to settle into and feel right at home! The jacuzzi is in a great spot to see all the stars at night, it was just lovely. We were visiting the area to spend our days fishing, this was a great place to be close to several good spots!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Every morning and evening we found ourselves with our cameras taking photos. We were not far from a grocery store and other places of interest. The home had everything we needed and then some. We would definitely rent here again.
My husband and I stayed here for vacation and the view of the mountains is beautiful. The location was perfect and very peaceful. The house has all the amenities that we needed. The drive up to the cabin is a little steep but we had no problems getting to it in our truck. We would definitely stay here again in the future.
We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin was so cozy and is the picture of Montana. The view off the back deck is breathtaking. We stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it.. we hiked up the hill our first evening there and it was spectacular, we took a nice relaxing dip in the hot tub on one of the cooler nights after spending the day exploring Montana and just enjoyed the peace and quiet. It’s nice and private, super clean and cozy. James is super nice and called to check on us to make sure everything was good (which it was great).I highly recommend renting this place, you will not regret it!

Uninvited Guest and Driveway from Hell
Would have been nice to know ahead of time that this property sits on a mountainside and therefore, your car better have front wheel or four wheel drive to get up the steep driveway. Oh, and God help you if you have a fear of heights. Weather stripping non-existent on front door so as we ate dinner, in comes a mouse and crosses the floor and showed no fear that we were there. Wood ceiling tiles were used for flooring in this God-forsaken place and crown molding was used for baseboards. Hand towels served as fill ins for gaps in walls. Would not recommend staying here.
Mr. Kephart was very nice and easily accessible. We had no issues with the property or process of reserving/renting. The cabin is very well stocked with any kitchen appliance you would ever need! I am glad I read a previous review about the driveway before picking a rental car. The driveway is fairly steep and rough, but it is Montana. Lol. I did like the fact that the property has a full size washer and dryer and worked great!! They looked fairly new, too. Lovely place!!!!
We enjoyed the quietness and location away from anyone. You can view the area for miles with no obstructions. We did learn about the variances of MT weather at night with high winds or no wind and extremes in temperature. But we were snug and sound in the home. It was easy to find and well marked.
This is our second staying here. We love the vastness of the property and we can hike out the back door. The location is perfect and close to a few ghost towns. The beds are comfortable and Jim had provided everything you need for cooking. Thank you for letting us stay
