Beautiful place to stay at. Room clean and tidy, staff very attentive and helpful. Floorboards very noisy so need TLC to reduce the noise. We had a room at the front so early morning traffic was an issue as we are light sleepers. Looks like they are updating the hotel to take it back to its former glory, so may revisit after work has been completed.

Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. During my stay there was remodeling going on - and the areas that have been renovated look fantastic, the areas that still need refurbishment, definitely need it. You have no ability to control the temperature in your room (no thermostat) which caused the room to become quite hot and stuffy at night, my allergies were bad so opening a window wasn’t possible.

Lovely and clean feel it needs so love and care putting back into decor paid for breakfast separately when arrived however I do feel that there should have been more breakfast staff on only 2 when there was a wedding the previous day. Felt so sorry for the 2 staff running round after clean mugs topping up all hot food lots of people asking for more juice, bread, pastries etc very poor of the management

Property was under maintenance therefore not a true reflection. The onboarding staff where excellent on arrival and departure. The room was clean and of a good standard. The hot water in the shower took a little time to come through to the shower.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The building is a little tired but it looks as though this is being addressed. The water in the shower was so hot I couldn’t use it. I couldn’t adjust it or get any cold water at all.

I have visited the park house hotel twice now, We booked a table for an evening meal, the food was very poor in quality. The room was of a good clean condition, however the shower was very poor again, it’s either tool or too cold and not very good at all.

Shame really
Shame really, was a nice place 20 yers ago but has been let go. Floor boards creaked, bedroom above was really noisy at night, lots of road noise from traffic , bathroom fittings loose and missing, floor tiles in bathroom not none slip so easy to slip on wet floor, wall tile grout not cleaned. Bath panel looked older than me an I,ve just retired. TV too small for the room so it was necessary to move the table nearer each night. Having building work done so it was like staying on a very untidy construction site. RECEPTIONIST WAS VERY HELPFULL , bar man not, when asked if i could borrow some scissors to open some bags was told not allowed to lend guests scissors, come on. Definitely not 4*, premier inn twice as good. Rubish and skips everywhere and a mobile caravan in the car park for the builers to sleep in, perhaps it was better than the hotel. Finally when you arrive there is a letter in the room thanking me for my cooperation and understanding whilst the place is a building site. At what point did I agree to that? Very overpriced for what it is and a lick of paint will not cure that

Very disappointing
We arrived yesterday, an hour earlier than the official check in time. The very unwelcoming receptionist called housekeeping to see if our room was ready and it was, but she would not allow us into the room without paying a £15 early check in fee. So we went to the bar which was almost empty, but tables had not been cleared. We used the toilets near the bar to change as we were on our way to a funeral but there was no heating in the toilets and it was -2 degrees outside. We returned after the funeral and found the stair carpets threadbare, with very little signage directing us to our room, in this rabbit-warren of a hotel. Eventually we found our room, which was cold, but a small stand-alone radiator had been provided. One of the bedside lights had didn't work and clearly needed rewiring. The bathroom had no extractor fan, no heating and no hand towels. I would struggle to give this a 3 star rating. On the plus side the room was very clean.

Take the TV out of the restaurant.
Perfect for what we needed. Room was large and clean. We needed a little more heat. Restaurant was lacking atmosphere but the food was very good. We thought the ambience was not improved by a large TV in the restaurant. It's not a sports pub! Waiting staff were pleasant and efficient.

Excellent value
Overall I loved this stay. The staff are all lovely, and the communal areas (bar, restaurant) are beautiful. My room was very clean, although its age was showing. Some mould on the bathroom sealant (the type that is impossible to clean off), a missing spacer/rest on the toilet lid, and whenever the toilet was flushed, the cistern lid would raise! But a powerful flush, which is always welcome in a hotel. The bed was so comfortable, I slept better than I do at home. There was plenty of tea coffee and milk in the room, also biscuits. The wifi was excellent - best hotel in Shifnal for wifi. Housekeeping staff are also brilliant - I was 'Do not Disturb' until gone noon, and still my room was pristine when I returned that night. I've stayed in much more expensive hotels where I would have missed housekeeping in this situation. The only real problem for me was the temperature. To be comfortable I had to turn the radiator off and leave the window open. I was on the second floor, and so presumably was getting the heat from the rest of the overheated hotel, and so this was where the star rating for environmental friendliness went down to 2. I suspect the hotel generally heats to around 28 degrees or more - it was positively tropical, so this may be a bonus for some people, especially in winter. But this is overall a great hotel for the price, and was quiet at night, even during the party season. It's certainly my first choice for staying in the area.

Comfortable rooms
Stayed here a few times over the years, hotel is a little dated but the rooms are comfortable and there has been signs that the new owners have started improvement works in the main area. Ive never had a bad visit yet

Needs a refit
The room was hotter than the sun. Very tired and in need of a refurb. Unwelcome arrival with the receptionist unhappy that the price stated on the website for dogs differed from her own price. Not my fault and I do not need to be lectured on this. Take it up with Hotels.com. Room was scorching hot. Regulator on the radiator was not fitted correctly and not adjustable. Slept with the very rotten wobbly window and Velux fully open in December to make the room habitable. The room was very worn, and elements of both the tap and the bath tap were missing. Easy low cost fix. Would have been nice in the 90's, but now looks tatty and in need of a lick of paint.

Room was adequate and comfortable but terribly cold with very thin single panes windows. Very noisy with church bells from early hours. Decor quite tired and dated- broken tap in sink, slow drainage of water, no plug in sink. Staff were very friendly and helpful and clearly doing their best!
