It was much nicer than we expected. We were at the hotel at the end of April, which I think is off-season, so the hotel was quite empty. I assume it is much busier during the touristic seasons, with more opportunities to enjoy the surrounding nature and the activities offered by the resort. We did use the onsen, and it was very nice. We also liked the included dinner. The hotel provides a shuttle, but we didn't use it as we had a rental car. I have travelled from Hokkaido to Okinawa, Tokyo to Hiroshima and stayed various types of hotels. This one is the best by far for the meal and environment. I am really surprised by the meal they serve, just like a Michelin starred restaurant. Thanks again to the cook and service stuff. They were really perfect. About environment, you stay in the middle of the woods. Green all around, fresh air and songs of birds. Its a bit far to Shirakawa-go (10-15 min by car) but the Hotel has free shuttle service to the main bus stop in the village. So...
