This is a beautiful, custom-built log home located just outside of downtown Seward. The previous owners spent ten years building the house, and cut down and hand-peeled all the logs themselves. It's a true Alaskan work of art. We purchased the home in 2007, and live in a cabin just across the driveway. We are around to help with local activities and information and make sure you get the most out of your vacation! We're happy to engage and assist in any way we can, but we also respect your private space. This house provides a very comfortable home-away-from-home while you're traveling, with all the amenities. The full kitchen is there for your use, there are large common areas - a huge slate fireplace surrounded by leather couches, Smart TV / VCR / DVD / High speed Wi-Fi / Stereo / Sonos, a grill and hot tub on the large front deck, a small covered back deck, etc. We have a washer / dryer and beautiful laundry room available for guest use. The house is modern and very clean, but cozy and comfortable. End your day relaxing in the hot tub or grilling up your fresh catch. We have a fire pit with firewood and horseshoe pits that guests are welcome to use. For the 2025 season, we're starting a new partnership with a local company who will rent out and deliver a clean, modern, portable sauna to our property or other locations for you. Enjoy a nice sauna right in the back yard, or have it delivered to a local lake or beach and dance between the hot steam and the cold plunge. We'll provide more information about this upon booking your stay with us... but they'll offer a significant discount to our guests! We can book Kenai Fjords Tours boat trips for you at a significant discount, as well! We require completion of our online rental agreement at the time of booking - so please be sure to do that right away after you've made your reservation! We do strictly limit the number of people using the house to the people listed on the rental agreement, at a maximum of 10 - including children. This is especially important to note if you have a larger group that spans over multiple houses. We ask that visitors who are not on the rental agreement do not use or congregate at our home. Our pricing is a base cost for 6 people. Beyond those first 6 guests, up to the 10-person maximum, there is a $30 / person / night charge. \*\* Please note that we do have Ring security cameras on the two entrances to our personal cabin on the property, as well as one at the garage area of the lodge building, and one by the back shed. There are no cameras inside the lodge, and no cameras that will sense motion or audio on the deck or your private areas of the lodge. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The home was spotless clean and incredibly comfortable. Laundry was fantastic, and we relaxed in front of the fireplace and in the hot tub. Wendy was very attentive and helped us book a tour too. And we even got to watch a moose meander in the backyard. What a gem; I wish I was still there! ##### Sara D. Hot tub, fire pit and large deck give you plenty of areas to relax outside and breathe in the fresh air. Wendy was always available to provide some guidance and listen to our stories. Clean and comfortable home to use as a base for our adventures. Everything accurate on the listing description. Two families with 4 adults and 3 kids. The lodge was in a great location close to Seward and in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room for everyone including the kids. The lodge is super cozy and warm and we looked forward to coming home every day after adventuring. We loved the recycling bins and the Sonos speaker system ##### Cole S. Clean, charming cabin with lots of history and character. Owners friendly and helpful. Plenty of room for spreading out, quite time when wanted. We enjoyed the hot tub. Clean. The home was beautiful, very clean, had a well stocked kitchen, and had everything we needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The owner lives right next door and made us feel right at home. The property is also a 10 minute drive to Seward and has plenty of room for big families. I can’t say a bad thing about this property and hope to stay there again one day. ##### Glen H. We were so happy with our stay at the Bear Paw Lodge! So much space and so many amenities. Perfect for our group of 10 adults. The abundance of towels, cups, plates were key! We loved having a movie available to wind down at night and being close to town but also out in the quiet neighborhood. Wendy was an excellent host and was very communicative! Bear Paw Lodge has been decorated and stocked very thoughtfully for a comfortable stay. There was plenty of space for our family, and everyone enjoyed the private hot tub on the deck. Having a washer and dryer in the house was very useful. The wifi was good and definitely the best we encountered during our trip (including Alyeska and multiple cabins). The location was quiet and peaceful and just a short drive to anywhere we wanted to go in the Seward area. We especially enjoyed the mama moose and her calves hanging out in the yard on the final morning of our stay. Thank you, Wendy! ##### Stacey C. It was super easy to find and the instructions were clear. For our large group the place was perfect and had all the amenities we might require. Wendy was so sweet and attentive to all the questions and queries the group might have had. Thank you so much for opening up your lovely house to us and let us experience it. Lots of room to spread out, big kitchen with all the things you need to prepare meals, and a huge yard with a fire pit for smores. You couldn't ask for nicer host than Wendy. Even though they live on property, you would never know you had a neighbor, but she was always there if we had a question. She even took a video of a mama bear and her two cubs visiting our deck one day and shared it with us! Overall a great experience. ##### Trina R. This house is huge and the cleanest rental we have ever stayed at. Wendy has gone above and beyond with directions on how to use just about everything, which makes things a bit easier. The Lodge is beautiful and has lots of space. It was a bit of a splurge for the 4 of us (as it sleeps many more) but we were coming from a week in a small cabin in Denali and we all were happy to have some space. The lodge is not far from town but out of the thick of people, which we appreciate. It's kind of nestled in the trees. We even watched a mama moose with her calf mosey around the yard one morning. The washer and dryer are huge and were a welcome sight! It rained a lot while we were there and while my husband did enjoy a dip in the hot tub, we didn't use the deck at all. But it is very nice! I loved the pictures on the walls, which looked like most were personally taken. Highly recommend this lodge and host! Thank you, Wendy! ##### Bobbi G.
