My husband, son, daughter-in-law, and I had a great time here over the weekend. We played a lot of pool and darts. Everything was clean and well stocked. My only complaint is that our schedule wouldn’t allow us to stay longer. I hope to return again!
Beary Bear Cabin was a good place for my family of 4 to stay while visiting the Smokey Mountains. Away from the insanely busy and touristy cities of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Close enough to get groceries, gas and hike in the National Park. You will need a car that can handle the narrow, steep switchback roads going to the cabin and around the National Park.
The cabin was extremley clean and the staff were very nice. We woke up extremley late on the day we were supposed to check out. Check out is at 10 and we ended up leaving at 1030. The staff was a little stern about it would be the only negative thing about this company, other than that the location is located on a very steep hill and GPS doesnt take you directly to it. I would definitely recommend this place. The hot tub was very nice and located to where you have a nice view. The jetted bathtub didnt work properly but i will definitely be staying with them again.
Great experience, stayed with fireside several times through the years, nice peaceful dog friendly cabin with all amenities needed for a relaxing getaway. Few broken items such and checker board pieces and darts but nothing to complain or cry over. House was clean but dusty, pull out couch was nasty with horrible stains!
Construction crew next door could clean up trash is everywhere including middle of road, I don’t like the roads to the cabin are only wide enough for one car but you enter and exit same way!
Overall it was a great and clean stay but beds need some work. They were not comfortable at all. You could feel the springs and the sheets were like sandpaper. But everything else was great.
Great location between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. EXTREMELY nice ladies at check in office. Slept well, beds were comfortable. My children are 8 and 10, loved the pool table and darts. Of course my son was disappointed there was no Xbox or PS4. Wish there was a more scenic view from the porches, but not everyone has the same preference. Recommend a hair dryer or two for the cabin.
Overall, nice place. Again, the women who checked us in were the nicest EVER!

Cleanliness is Godliness
The place was fine, but it was filthy except for the linins. The floors were filthy, there was dust on everything, and I don't believe the hot tub was drained (and it had no bromine tabs in the chlorinator after 2 days). There's a lot of potential at this nice cabin, but ya'll need to boot your cleaning and maintenance crew.
Nice cabin with lots to do. Kids wanted to just stay at the cabin and play games/watch movies the whole time. Close to pigeon forge and Gatlinburg, but far enough from the crowded busyness. When getting into the cabin for the first time we were not given the code to the security alarm, but we were able to call the office and they were able to help us so not huge deal.
We did have trouble with getting the plug for the tub to work (we ended up using a cup to keep the water from draining out).
Nice little get away.

Short Stay
This cabin was nice for a short stay. There could be some improvements, such as the hot tub is very old and the jets were really weak. The pool table and dart board were really worn down. I would bring your own toilet paper! It was honestly the thinnest I have ever used. The sheets on the bed were clean but pretty rough feeling.. It’s a decent place to stay though. Also, if you bring a dog just know there is very little grass for your pup to use the potty.

Cabin was ok….
The cabin sits on a incline you will definitely need a vehicle with awd or fwd….be cautious of the major pot holes the surround the incline the cabin sits on…the cabin itself was ok…the jacuzzi tub has a couple permanent stains that pushed me to not get in it…the shower in the same bathroom as the jacuzzi tub has some questionable stains in it as well…there are no regular door knobs on the doors in the cabin instead there are door latches so the doors will not stay closed unless you physically lock the latch…the chairs in the movie theater are old and peeling badly which discouraged my husband and I from using the theater….the floors could use a good cleaning as well as my white soaks were definitely not white the first night we stayed…there is an alarm system hooked up inside the cabin and it doesn’t work but it beats constantly which was really annoying at night when we tried to sleep…there is a pond that sits outside of the balcony and geese and ducks are there all day and all night as well which you can image is overly annoying at night too while trying to sleep…there is also a friendly brown boxer (dog) that roams the entire area…other than that the cabin was ok…It definitely was close to all the attractions my husband and I visited in Pigeon Forge…Fireside Chalets customer service was impeccable which made up for the things I mentioned above that we ended up staying an additional night due to activities we still wanted to do..we probably won’t stay at this particular cabin again but we would definitely with out doubt stay in another property Fireside Chalets offers

Updates needed & promised refund not processed
The overall renting through Fireside was frustrating.
I received a call from Fireside a couple of weeks before our stay stating the hottub was broken. They were waiting on a part but it may not be fixed by our stay. She promised to refund $100 credit back to our reservation. There were no other rentals available. She said the hottub could be fixed prior to arrival but either way we would receive the credit. I never heard back prior to our stay. So I was under the impression the hottub was still broken. Therefore, we did not attempt to use. When I inquired about the refund 2 weeks after our stay. I was informed the hottub was working and they would not be refunding the "promised" refund. Even though we were never told the hottub was ready. Valerie was rude and not customer friendly to say the least.
The house is cute but could use some updates. The master shower is small and dingy. Both beds were extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses were hard and the sheets were very rough.
We were excited about the media room, but the recliners were old and the leather was peeling.
If you are looking for a deck with a nice view. This cabin is not for you.
We will not use Fireside Chalets in the future. Nor would we stay at this cabin again.
Cute cozy little cabin! However, we ran into a few issues. The floors were dirty. The table was so sticky. The whirlpool was very dirty so we didn't get to use it which we were planning on doing! The one night we planned on having movie night. Even went out and bought some snacks to have. Got everything set up, went to put the movie in and it wouldn't work and the tv was all purple and had no sound. So we decided to get in the hot tub, it didn't work. So we decided to go upstairs and watch tv, the tv wouldn't work. We were only staying 3 nights. When I contacted them, they only refunded 50. I understand we are supposed to let them know of any issues however we were so busy we kept forgetting to call them. It was such a bummer. And also fyi, this cabin is on a hill. You drop something, it rolls all of the way down! If you have health issues that makes it hard to walk, this driveway is very hard to walk on. And also, the dust ruffle under the box springs looked like pee'd on in, it was filthy dirty. And the mattresses were HORRIBLE. My mom and I got no sleep. We kept moving around to try and find a spot without a spring going into our backs. It was horrible. FYI, if you stay here, as soon as you get there go around and look at everything. Try turning on everything to make sure it works. Lay on the beds to make sure you don't have springs going into your back. Make sure to turn on the tvs too! We are very disappointed and won't be going back.
Great first visit to the Smoky Mountains. Cabin was just as described. Plenty of room for family of four. Movie room was a real bonus that we utilized on two nights. Hot tub was perfect after long days of hiking and tourist attractions. Great location between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Thank you!!!
The house was perfect for us: 3 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 child. The house is made perfect to be small but laid out well. The 2 king size beds were a nice bonus. The pool table and hot tub were our favorite part. We love log cabins and the layout was good and the basement makes the house great(where the movie room, pool table and dart board is). The hot tub wasn't working when we got there. We called the number on the email and they connected us with the homeowner who told us maintenance would be out 1st thing in the morning. They must have came when we were gone in pigeon forge but they never bothered us which was perfect bx when we returned the hot tub was working! I would recommend this house for anyone!
We came by car from IL for our first vacation in TN. The cabin was perfect for us with plenty of room. Sometimes we stayed in the cabin until noon before venturing out because it was so relaxing. It was nice to be away from the busy areas of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I think we made some wrong turns getting there and it was pretty scary with narrow steep roads. The next morning luckily we figured out the easier way to get to the main road. Each day then we didn't return to the cabin until late. It was just my husband, 9 year old daughter and I. They loved relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of site seeing. We watched TV in the movie theatre room and that was fun. We never did figure out how to play a movie but we were too tired by then anyway. The main level bathroom is very nice. My daughter took baths in the jacuzzi tub every night. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need. Just bring your food and drinks and you are set! We grilled hamburgers on the gas grill one night. There are 2 decks and they are very peaceful to sit on. We loved the swinging bench on the main level deck. One tip is that when you get the e-mail to check in with the door code and alarm code, write them down! We got there and had no service right away so it was a bit stressful to pull up the codes on our phones. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful cabin!
