It did take 30 mins up the mountain from town. The road up is curvy and sharp turns. It was a great house for our group. I do feel like there was an original listing when we booked with two queen bunk beds that said sleeps 16 but when we got there it was only one. We were glad we had two back out or it would have been tight! The game room is really fun! We didn’t watch any movies. I’d stay here again! The hosts are easy to reach and quick to respond! Our children referred to it as their "Mountain House" (and still are asking to go to the mountain house 2 months later). The location was great and close to all attractions but yet secluded enough to enjoy truly being in the mountains. The beds were super comfy and plenty of space for all of us to sleep (4 adults and 5 children - toddlers to teens). The property was simply amazing and the attention to details and the BEARS was hands down one of the best features!! The kids loved the game and movie room and the wrap around deck was perfect for early morning coffee. The roads to the house were an adventure and loved driving them. The cabin was close to Pigeon Forge as well as Gatlinburg-Less than a 20 minute drive. Our family was over the top thrilled with all of the amenities! The cabin had a fantastic game room, theater room, and the fire pit that was the evening gathering place for us. The pictures do not do justice for this place… We were all so comfortable and content!! The layout of the cabin was perfect. We had seven in our family and each person had their own space. The kitchen has everything that you will need plus the decor is simply beautiful. We loved having breakfast together at the picnic style table before going out on our adventures for the day. Everyone loved the wrap around porch that provided different seating areas and views. There was excellent communication with the owner who also provided different restaurants and things to do in the area, and it was truly appreciated as this was our first time visiting Tennessee !! From the second we pulled up to the cabin, we were absolutely amazed. We all loved running around calling our bedrooms. The cabin was perfect. It looked amazing and fit our family of 11 great. They even provided a high chair and playpen for the baby which was a wonderful bonus. The game room and movie room and fire pit and wrap around porch and the whole inside layout was everything how it was described and we couldn’t have found a more perfect cabin for us. We definitely have already talked about coming back next year. —— Julie and her son were such friendly and helpful people. She was very quick to reply if I had any questions and she and her son were “service with a smile”. She deserves a raise. LOL 😁 By the way …. This is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Smokies! It’s far enough off the beaten path to feel secluded, but close enough to enjoy all the activities the area has to offer. It’s perfect for a family or group with room for everyone. We enjoyed time around the fire, played in the game room and the yard, enjoyed the hot tub, watched a movie on one of the large TVs, created some yummy food in the kitchen, and made memories to last a lifetime. Honestly, the setting and cabin are so serene, you could spend the majority of your time there. We managed to fit a lot in on this vacay and looked forward to returning to the cabin each evening. The hosts are thoughtful, attentive, and easy to communicate with. Our group of nine adults and our grand baby, (who loved the bear decor), had a wonderful time. As a bonus, it’s located close to a lovely area in Wears Valley, (which looks like a picturesque Hallmark movie) and has a coffee shop, (Heavenly Roast), photo area, and shops with friendly local owners. We ate at Elvira’s in the valley and enjoyed the food and local ambience there too! Thank you to our hosts for providing such a wonderful unit and thinking of everything! We absolutely loved it and it had the sleeping arrangements we needed for our family. The arcade room was great for noisy kids, the theater room made movie nights super cool, and the home & decor were beautiful. Here' the problem- the upstairs bedroom had mold all over the ceiling. We first noticed mold problem in the washer. It was all through the detergent drawer, and on the jets, seal, & door. I sent a message and they had the cleaner there within 30 minutes to clean the washer. The couple staying in the upstairs bedroom was feeling sluggish and tired most of our stay. One of the last days we were there, we noticed all the mold on the upstairs bedroom ceiling. They are very allergic to mold, so that explains why they were feeling so drained all week. I sent a message and the lady said she would pass my message along to the owners. I haven't heard back. I feel it's necessary to let you know that the mold is growing in the wood ceiling, which is especially important for families with mold allergies and those who know the dangers of mold exposure. The second issue was that the downstairs bedroom didn't have a door at all. The person i had contact with said they had to take the door off due to a fire code issue. We didn't know this ahead of time, and we were expecting to have a bedroom with a door. This room is directly across from another bedroom, so there is zero privacy for changing in bedroom #3\. ##### A E. We had a wonderful stay at Bear Necessities! The cabin was beautiful and tucked away in the hills. The location was wonderful, close to all the attractions and town while still being far enough away to take in all the mountainous views.
