Serra de Agua Holidays from £377

A great hotel in a nice location. We enjoyed our stay. Very clean and tidy. The property had the feel of a grand plantation house. The only thing letting it down was the slight complexity over the amenities. Whilst it has its own pool, everything else you require, such as food, bars, larger pools, etc., needs to be accessed from the Pestana hotels next door, which can be accessed through a route within the grounds. We found the breakfast area well, but never found the bar or other areas, as it was slightly confusing. I think a quality onsite restaurant would be a real asset here, along with some evening entertainment. We went out to nearby restaurants every night, as we didn’t feel the hotel had much to offer in this regards. We had a few small issues with housekeeping, but once we raised the problems, they were quick to remedy them. The hotel is situated about 20-25 min walk from the main town of Funchal - so within a reasonable difference. For the price of this hotel, I think things like an airport transit service would be nice. Overall a nice establishment, with good and knowledgeable staff. Felt more like a bed and breakfast facility. There was no room service, to the best of our knowledge. The acid test is always, would you stay again - I would say “yes” but probably when the rooms were on sale price etc. I would certainly recommend the hotel. Clean, good quality, and nice staff. A little expensive for the amenities on offer but otherwise great.

★★★★★ Exceptional Hospitality at RIU Madeira! We had a wonderful experience at RIU Madeira Resort! We arrived at the hotel before 9 AM, and even though our room wasn't ready yet, the staff warmly welcomed us and allowed us to enjoy the resort's amenities and breakfast right away. What impressed us even more was the flexibility on our departure day. Since our flight wasn't until 10 PM, we were allowed to continue enjoying the resort's facilities, relaxing, and having snacks even after checking out. This level of hospitality and flexibility made our stay so much more comfortable and enjoyable. The staff truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. For this exceptional hospitality alone, RIU Madeira deserves five stars! Highly recommended!

Really beautiful hotel, our room was lovely. Was super clean, and staff were excellent at cleaning it throughout and leaving special touches. The balcony facing the ocean was nice, with really comfortable chairs out there. Loved everything about the room. The pool, sauna and steam room were lovely too and the sunbeds outside were very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, a nice selection of food and the location of the hotel was great (lots of restaurants nearby and buses). Really lovely area to stay, it was nice and quiet!
