The best area to stay in Serghina, Fès, is within the Medina, particularly around the Batha Square or Bab Bou Jeloud (the Blue Gate). The Medina is the historic heart of Fès, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and an experience in itself. It's a labyrinth of narrow, car-free alleyways filled with souks (markets), artisan workshops, and traditional riads. Bab Bou Jeloud is another prominent entrance, leading directly into the bustling main thoroughfares. For couples looking for a romantic and authentic experience, staying in a riad within the Medina is ideal. These traditional Moroccan houses, often with an internal courtyard garden, provide a tranquil escape from the bustling streets. Many are beautifully restored and offer personalised service, rooftop terraces, and traditional Moroccan cuisine. From here, you can easily explore the tanneries, Madrasa Bou Inania, and the Al-Attarine Madrasa on foot, discovering hidden gems around every corner.Travellers who appreciate culture and history will also find the Medina to be the great base. Its winding paths encourage exploration, leading to centuries-old mosques, fountains, and artisan crafts.

The best time to visit Serghina is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, with warm days and mild evenings, making it ideal for exploring the city's historic sites and bustling souks without the intense heat of summer or the cooler temperatures of winter. You'll find the gardens and courtyards particularly inviting during springtime. For travellers who prefer a quieter experience and slightly cooler weather, the shoulder seasons in late March or early November can also be a good choice.
