8/10 Good
"The house was well presented and the pantry was well stocked with the basics. Extra quilts and blankets are provided which we made use of as the nights were very cold, the AC did an ok job of keeping the place warm.Towels are provided for showers but no hand towel in case that bothers anyone. The river and beach are both beautiful and within easy walking distance. All in all the property was everything we needed for our stay on Kangaroo island."

"This was the first time we traveled to Australia and we were so fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at Ecopia Retreat in the Residence property! The Residence was beautifully decorated and the back yard was full of wildlife! It was a perfect stay for our family for 4 days. The host was always available and so friendly. The stars at night were unbelievable! Totally off the grid and relaxing and special!"

Kangaroo Island Supashak - Modern take on iconic Australian Shack

10/10 Excellent
"We really enjoyed staying here. The house was comfortable, clean and spacious. It is set up well for families and we had the best summer holiday. The house is close to the beach and near to other outdoor activities & the Flinders Chase national park. There was also beautiful wildlife on our doorstep every night. With three energetic kids it was a great place to base to ourselves for long walks and body boarding at the beach, the Harriet river where we went kayaking and near the Sahara sand dunes for sand boarding and also some quad biking which was excellent if that’s your thing. We also did a day trip to explore Western River Cove, Stokes Bay & Emu bay it was a long day of driving but worth it to see all the beautiful beaches and some good lunch spots too (The Rock Pool Cafe. Beach Day Emu Bay and So Sando in Kingscote) Based on our experience: - Stock up on groceries, I recommend bringing breakfast & lunch options and then heading to the Vivonne bay general store (closes a 6pm in summer) or the Parndana pub for dinner open till 8pm. - Book activities ahead of time if you don’t have much flexibly in your schedule - It’s pretty hard to avoid the mozzies so put a bit of insect repellent on before bed We look forward to coming back again next summer"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Seal Bay?
The best time to go to Seal Bay is during the cooler months, from May to September, when the weather is mild and the seal pups are abundant.During this period, the cooler temperatures make for a pleasant experience on the viewing platforms and boardwalks, as you'll be spending time outdoors. It's also when the Australian sea lion pups are most active and playful, which is a key highlight for many visitors. You'll likely see them interacting with the adults and learning to swim. For those who prefer slightly warmer weather and don't mind fewer pups, October to April is also a good option. The adult sea lions are still very present, and the longer daylight hours mean more time to explore Kangaroo Island.
