"We’d planned this special trip for a while and so were very disappointed to see the spa closed during our stay and we were given quite a ‘tired’ room down in the basement, which felt isolated from the main hotel. Overall a very underwhelming visit."

"Great location, really close to everything you'd want to see in old York. Very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. My only quibble - and this is more my fault than that of the hotel - is that to get up to my room, on the top floor, I had to lug a giant suitcase up several flights of a winding, narrow stairway. (York was a stop on my way to work for a month - ergo the giant suitcase). No other amenities in the hotel, so if you want a bite to eat, you'll have to go out. Not a big deal, as there are countless establishments within a 10-minute walk. For comfort and location, I should give the place 4 stars. Just wish it had a "lift""
