Top São Pedro de Tomar Hotel Reviews

Thomar Boutique Hotel

Thomar Boutique Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We really loved the room decor tastefully decorated as Knights of the Templar. The hotel was beautifully situated at the bottom of the castle and convent on top and the edge of the small village below. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was plentiful. A wonderful experience all around."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in São Pedro De Tomar?
The best area to stay in São Pedro De Tomar is near the Castelo de Bode Dam, particularly along the reservoir's edge.

This area offers direct access to the stunning Castelo de Bode reservoir, known for its clear waters and surrounding greenery. It's less of a traditional town centre and more of a scenic recreational hub, with many properties offering views of the water. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and holiday rentals scattered along the lakeside roads.

For families, staying by the reservoir is ideal. Many accommodations here cater to longer stays, often featuring outdoor spaces, swimming pools, and direct access to water activities like paddleboarding or kayaking. The natural setting provides plenty of space for children to play and explore in a relaxed environment.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will also appreciate this location. The tranquil surroundings are superb for unwinding, enjoying scenic walks, or simply relaxing by the water.
When is the best time to go to São Pedro De Tomar?
The best time to go to São Pedro De Tomar is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

During spring, the weather is pleasantly warm, with average temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C. The countryside is lush and green, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities like hiking or exploring the Almourol Castle without the intense summer heat. This period is particularly good for couples looking for comfortable weather to discover the natural beauty and historic sites at a relaxed pace.

Early autumn offers similar comfortable temperatures, typically between 20°C and 28°C. The tourist crowds begin to thin out, and the grape harvest season in the surrounding region adds a unique local experience. Families might find this time appealing for a quieter trip, enjoying the local markets and the calmer atmosphere around the Castelo de Tomar without the peak summer rush.

While summer (July and August) brings hot, dry weather with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, it's also the busiest period for tourism.
