São Francisco do Sul é a cidade mais antiga do Estado de Santa Catarina e a terceira cidade mais antiga do Brasil. Foi colonizada por Portugueses e Espanhóis. O primeiro índio brasileiro a pisar em solo europeu era daqui. Tem o quinto maior porto do Brasil e no verão é muito procurada pelas suas praias. No Centro Histórico, além de apreciar o casario resultado da colonização portuguesa,  vale a pena fazer uma visita à Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora da Graça, ao Mercado Municipal de 1900 e ao Museu Nacional do Mar que é o único museu no Brasil de embarcações brasileiras.

São Francisco do Sul is the oldest city in the State of Santa Catarina and the third oldest city in Brazil. It was colonized by Portuguese and Spanish. The first Brazilian Indian to tread on European soil was from here. It has the fifth largest port in Brazil and in the summer is much sought after by its beaches. In the Historic Center, in addition to appreciating the settlement resulting from the Portuguese colonization, it is worthwhile to visit the Mother Church Nossa Senhora da Graça, the Municipal Market of 1900 and the National Museum of the Sea which is the only museum in Brazil of Brazilian vessels.
