Sadly Oia has become spoiled, the better shops have moved out as well as many of the former restaurant owners. Imerovigli, however, sits proudly atop Santorini itself and retains the Charm of the Island. Now, literally connected to Fira, yet separate and quiet, Imerovigli is where u want to be if you desire the Caldera and Intimacy. Vista Mare Suites sits properly among the best restaurants and high in the view but away from the walking streets. The Hosts are fantastic and will cater to your needs. The rooms are clean and spacious (ours was a two bedroom with two bathrooms and a full kitchen and two terraces, and truly a Cycladic cave, not made to look like one). And the view of the sunset is INCREDIBLE. And the view of the sunset while in a private jacuzzi... It is the best thing I have ever seen. The room was beautiful - classic Santorini room built on the caldera. And the staff were so nice. They brought you a delicious breakfast to your patio every morning, which was pure luxury. Charming room with coffee pot and fridge. Huge delicious breakfast delivered to patio each morning. Natasha went went above and beyond to be helpful--lovely woman. Caldera views spectacular and Imerovigli more beautiful (and much less crowded) than Oia and Fira. Multiple great restaurants very close by. We will stay here again. Exceptional staff. Alexandra and Petros were unbelievably nice folks. Alexandra proactively contacted us to make sure that we were immediately met for luggage assistance at the drop off site prior to our arrival. She personally came to meet us well after 11pm. Our room was much larger than expected with separate living area and bedroom. Shower area was small but was well worth it for staying in a traditional cave. Service from all staff was great. Breakfast is served on your terrace every morning with a wonderful choice. What a way to start the day. My only comment would be that the pool is not at all convenient a good 10 minute steep walk there and back but I guess its better than no pool at all. Room was ok (loft setup) but beds and pillows were not comfortable. Pleasant walk to Fira town (downhill on the way there). 0verall, our family of four had a very pleasant stay. The service is excellent. We liked the traditional architecture and the minimal decoration of the rooms. The location of the hotel is very good, it takes you 10 minutes to get to Firostefani and 15 minutes to get to Fira.
