Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Santa María?
The best area to stay in Santa María is the city centre, particularly around Avenida 9 de Octubre.

This area is the main commercial and cultural hub of Santa María. It's characterised by a mix of historic buildings and modern high-rises, with many shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Avenida 9 de Octubre is the city's main artery, a bustling boulevard that runs through the heart of the district, connecting many key points.

For couples, the city centre offers a convenient base for exploring Santa María. You'll find a good selection of quality hotels, many within walking distance of attractions like the Malecón 2000, a scenic riverside boardwalk, and various museums. The area's lively evenings provide plenty of dining choices and opportunities for a pleasant stroll.

Solo travellers will also find the city centre to be a practical and engaging choice. Its central location means easy access to public transport for exploring further afield, and there are numerous cafes and eateries where you can enjoy local cuisine.
When is the best time to go to Santa María?
The best time to go to Santa María is during the dry season, which runs from May to December.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather and lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring the city and enjoying outdoor activities. The dry season also means less chance of rain interrupting your plans, ensuring a more comfortable and predictable trip. This period is particularly good for couples looking to enjoy romantic strolls along the waterfront or explore the historic centre without worrying about sudden downpours.

If you're planning activities that involve the water, such as boat trips or coastal excursions, the calmer seas and clearer skies of the dry season are a significant advantage.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Santa María.
How much is the nightly rate at a Santa María hotel?

All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
