Located in the quintessential village of Great Gransden, the cottage provides a luxurious base with which to explore Cambridgeshire and the East of England. Number Eleven also makes an ideal base for visiting academics or parents to Cambridge University that don’t wish to be in the middle of town. We want to ensure that you have the best possible stay here. Number Eleven is run by Andy next door. It’s my job, not a hobby or an investment so I want to do it properly. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I try to be as ecologically minded as I can be and make Number Eleven as interesting and comfortable as possible. Number Eleven is different. You probably only need to remember your PJs and toothbrush! Pamper yourself with locally made natural soap, a Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Or relax in the sauna........ Have a look at the design collections through the decades in the cottage, and revel in the analogue world of the mix tape! For all 80's audio boffs, there's a Pioneer amp and speakers, and Technics cassette deck for use. Go, on dig out your mix tapes and bring them with you. Your phone doesn't care about you and your iPod's dying. (Plug in aux facilities for your phone are available.....) Downstairs is a cosy living room with an inglenook fireplace almost the depth of the house and nearly the height of the room! A fire pack is ready to go upon arrival, and logs/coal can then be purchased separately from local shops for the remainder of your stay. The whole house is also heated by Fischer Future Heat radiators. A 43" TV in the lounge also streams the web with access to your Netflix account. The kitchen is custom fitted with a ceramic hob and bright red resin worktops. Fridge/washing machine, iron/board are all included. Drying facilities are available if required. Filtered water on tap. Bespoke hand made crockery is from the Isle of Skye made by Edinbane Pottery; ask us about how it came to be. Both bedrooms have double beds with high count quality bedding, storage, hanging facilities, bedside lights, chairs, DVD players, radios with aux facilities, charging cables and make up/shaving mirrors. The bathroom has a powerful digital shower, bath, sink, toilet and a bar of naturally locally made soap. High quality shampoo and moisturisers are also provided along with cotton wool pads and buds (not plastic!). Babies and children are well catered for with cot, changing mat, bath, stool, toys and games galore. Please note that guests 5 and 6 will be accommodated on a comfortable sofa-bed in the lounge. There is a £20 charge for this to cover extra laundry costs and it must be booked prior to arrival. The amount will be requested from you once you have booked and paid, online or on arrival. Dogs are welcome with prior notice given at the time of booking; throws, towels and bowls are provided in the Pooch Pouffe in the lounge. Please keep them off the furniture (who chose that sofa?). If Fido's not 100% happy with this arrangement, please use the throws provided in the Pooch Pouffe! Your environment, our ethos: • The milk is sold by Bal at Gransden Stores around the corner. • Soap is by St Neots Natural Soap Company, 6 miles away. • The logs for the fire are responsibly sourced within the village where possible. • Toiletries are not disposable travel sized items and are refilled after use. • Almost all the cleaning products, detergent and washing up liquid I use and supply are bio-degradable. • All bin bags are bio-degradable; directions for recycling (all packaging is recycled in Huntingdonshire) and food waste are clear. • Electricity is provided by Octopus and is from 100% renewable sources. • When the sun’s out, the sauna is solar powered! There is parking for one car on the drive. If you can't fit on or you arrive in more than one car, please park in the Reading Rooms car park round the corner. There is a code provided as it is locked at night. Please do not park in front of the cottage, on Eltisley Road, West Street or Fox Street. Car Charging facilities are available but please inform in advance as the point is next door on our drive. ## Property amenities ### Pool/Spa - Sauna ### Internet - Available in the cottage: Free WiFi ### Parking and transport - It is well furnished and extremely comfortable. Andy is a terrific host and very good at communicating. Having the village shop just round the corner is useful and the cottage is conveniently located to explore the area. If you are tall though, you need to remember to duck, as it’s an old cottage (albeit really well renovated) but the doorways and beams are low. ##### Isobel C. The cottage is really lovely and the village Great Gransden too. Our dog loved the little garden with a good closed fence all around. Not to forget our host Andy. He is always around if you need him and gives us good and helpful hints to discover the area around the village. Tanks a lot Andy and maybe we see us again ##### Kai M. Stayed 14 nights in Jun 2017 ### 8/10 Good #### Janice B. 22 Oct 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Cosy and quaint The owners have put a lot of thought into furnishing the property so that it is comfortable yet retains a lot of the original period features. It is particularly suitable for families but couples are also catered for. The local shop is an absolute gem and carries a huge range of stock. The only suggestion for improvement is that a clothes dryer would be handy, particularly is wet weather. ##### Janice B. Stayed 4 nights in Oct 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Dominique D., Braine l'Alleud, Belgium 28 Oct 2019 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Lovely and comfy cottage nr Cambridge We had a fantastic stay (2 nights) at no11, a lovely 2-bedroom cottage located in a small village within a short distance from Cambridge. The cottage is extremely well-equipped with all amenities (great shower and modern kitchen) and decorated with great taste and originality. The village is quiet and the back garden was much appreciated by our golden retriever puppy, who was an accepted guest by Andy. The home made bread was tasty and a nice touch for breakfast. The small food shop in the corner street provided the necessary for the remainder of our breakfast. We will definitely stay there again. ##### Dominique D. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. Modern and still loads of character. Garden was lovely our 19 month old son and our puppy enjoyed it loads. Most comfy bed I've ever slept in. Lovely village shop a stones throw away provides everything you need esp their fresh bread yum. We'd certainly be returning when a break is needed for, the busy London life. Jade jack, Emily and Tom Charlie and max ##### jade c. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Linda B. 23 Sept 2018 #### Lovely Stay My husband and I with our two grown up children stayed at this lovely cottage on Friday and Saturday night. We were attending a family wedding nearby. Didn’t want for anything. Everything was clean and welcoming. Andy the owner met us and was very informative. We used both bedrooms and the sofa bed for sleeping all of which were comfortable. Plenty of hot water, a good shower and we used the hair dryer provided and the iron and ironing board. Only used the kitchen cooking facilities for breakfast, tea, bacon rolls, cheese and ham croissants but everything there we needed. Wouldn’t hesitate to return if we were looking for accommodation in the area. ##### Linda B. Stayed 2 nights in Sep 2018 This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Debbie T., Bromley 30 Jun 2016 #### Charming place to stay Very comfortable and charming cottage. A mix of contemporary furniture and decoration in an old property that really works. Quirky collections of items, personal stereos, cameras, radios are a great touch. Very comfortable bed. Good shower, well equipped kitchen. Perfect base to explore the area. The only niggle is that the local pub only does food on Friday, Saturday,Sunday, ( we stayed Tuesday to Friday) and it is Indonesian. The food is fantastic but I didn't want to cook each night as I was on holiday! The Eltisley is nearby, in Eltisley, and Gamingay too, if you want to drive out to eat, but after a full day sightseeing we wanted to flop a five minute walk away. Andy was a great host, very helpful drying our washing for us. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this property. ##### Debbie T. Stayed 4 nights in Jun 2016 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Carol S. 17 May 2018 #### Perfect little cottage The visit was so we could do a flight at Duxford. We brought mum & Dad, and spent a few nights in the cottage. Shame the pub was closed! Andy provided freshly Baked bread and chocolates which went down nicely with the ingredient we managed to buy at the local shop to make a lasagna, and we used some great spices from Andy spice rack, we drank wine on the Sunny Patio, is was lovely. But beware of a few Mosquitoes, top tip (have spray, handy) The facilities was perfect, Beds were very comfortable.
