Silver Surf Motel

"It is perfect for having a place to lay your head and sleep at a reasonable price close to Hearst Castle. They have a helpful staff and my room was clean and reasonably up to date. The hotel is on the east side (northbound) of the PCH, so if you’re wanting something with an ocean view stay on the other side of the road. You can easily walk to the beach from there. There aren’t really any amenities and I had to go for a ride down to Cambria to get some breakfast. None of that was a big deal. Nothing wrong with staying there."

"We just stayed one night for a family of 5 and we slept comfortably. It’s also accessible area to some hikes and overlooking the Morro Rock by the patio. Overall it was a pretty good stay."

"Sands is the affordable motel located on the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort property - shared property so we were able to enjoy the same amenities - ocean front fire pits, pool and jacuzzi. Wish I’d known we could have ordered room service to the room! Did not try the restaurant on premises as we checked in an hours before everything closed down. Checked in with the front desk at Cavalier - very helpful front desk who kindly warned us that everything shuts down early and there would be no dining options after 9 (and there really wasn’t!!). Room was clean, although a little run down, but comfortable."

Cavalier Oceanfront Resort

"We walked into our room and discovered two chairs on the other side of the bed, facing the wall of glass and the view of the ocean! The slider let out to a lovely patio with wood rocking chairs (pretty uncomfortable - we had to use bed pillows). We could hear the ocean and feel the cool breeze. The hotel provided us with a complimentary bottle of bubbly and thought of lots of amenities. There was a wood burning fireplace in our room (we didn't use it but definitely will when we return in the winter). The hot tub and swimming pool were just a few steps from our sliding door. On check-in, I reminded the desk clerk that I asked for a pet friendly room and she told me that every room is pet friendly! There were pet stations positioned throughout the grounds, with walking paths and fire pits that were lit at dusk. There was a beach volleyball court, huge checkers and chess outdoor games and fresh coffee each morning in the lobby. We ate at the restaurant on premises and had a thoroughly wonderful stay. Our dogs enjoyed it immensely too! Definitely going to return."
