Your Hotel Stay in San Ramón

Find accommodation in San Ramón as a great base from which to explore the wonders of Costa Rica’s central highlands as well as this little gem of a town. ‘Pura Vida’ is the motto of San Ramón – meaning ‘pure life’, it perfectly encapsulates the spirit of this pretty, peaceful town surrounded by the mystical cloud forest. San Ramón has been home to many of Costa Rica’s leading political and artistic figures, and offers its visitors a lively cultural scene with cinemas, museums and art studios, as well as an excellent range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The altitude means that San Ramón maintains a pleasantly mild temperature all year round, and the town is surrounded by the unique variety of plant and animal life of the unspoiled cloud forest.

Things to See in San Ramón

From your San Ramón hotel, you’ll likely be able to see the church of Parroquia San Ramón Nonato, which dominates the town’s skyline, and is well worth a visit, especially when it’s filled to capacity on Sunday. The Museo de San Ramón is an invitingly intimate museum notable for its fossil remains and reconstructions of the giant sloths that roamed the region 12,000 years ago, as well as exhibits of sea turtles and other Costa Rican flora and fauna. For a bit more adrenalin, the Parque Aventura San Luis is a zip-lining adventure park suitable for all ages and abilities, with a dozen stages providing some of the most thrilling treetop flights to be had anywhere in Costa Rica.

San Ramón’s Cloud Forests

Only one percent of the world’s surviving woodlands are cloud forests, which makes the El Silencio de Los Angeles Cloud Forest Reserve a truly special place. Not far from where you stay in San Ramón, El Silencio has knowledgeable guides and well-marked trails, allowing you to get close to its fabulous flora and fauna. At the Nectandra Cloud Forest Garden, a horticultural display garden, you can also see some of the highlights of the Costa Rican cloud forest’s uniquely rich ecosystem– it’s overflowing with a splendid variety of orchids, heliconias, ferns and diverse animal and bird species.
