The apartment has been completely remodeled respecting its colonial style and has been upgraded with air conditioning throughout the villa, an updated kitchen, wifi, and TV. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, next to restaurants, a plaza and all that you need to see in this beautiful historic city. LIVING AREAS As soon as you enter the Mezzanine Suite you are welcomed by high ceilings, hardwood accents, and beautiful traditional checkered floor, which are all traditional of Old San Juan design. The layout encompasses a spacious living room and dining area and a separate kitchen. The high ceilings and dark wood beams are an iconic design feature of the colonial architecture Old San Juan is famous for. There is a dining room directly beside the renovated kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, microwave, and fridge, ideal for an extended stay. The living room has a comfortable sofa and a flat-screen TV. There is central air conditioning throughout the apartment. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Mezzanine Suite has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps 2 adults located steps away from the living area. The spacious bedroom has a queen bed, air conditioning, and access to a full bathroom. The bedroom is appointed with fresh linens for a good night's sleep. It also has a full closet and full-size drawer. Mezzanine Bedroom overlooks the living area and kitchen. PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability. KITCHEN Mezzanine Suite kitchen is an open concept and recently updated with beautiful new cabinets and countertops. You and your group will surely spend time socializing and cooking in this beautiful kitchen. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. We include enough bounty, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay. GETTING AROUND If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. \*\*This property does not include parking.\*\* IMPORTANT: If you need to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. LOCATION Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From the property, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment. There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance: Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do. Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries. Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl. Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail. Other Things to Note: STARTER AMENITIES At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay. All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest. We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include: \- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom) \- 3 garbage bags \- 1 roll of paper towels \- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom) \- 1 dish soap \- 1 dish sponge Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay. Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation. HOUSE RULES RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed. NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated. NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property. QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors. UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 2 adults/children at all times, including visitors. OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund. TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. It was very suitable for it being just me. Lots of souvenir shops, bars, restaurants you name it. The apartment itself is very different and accommodating. ##### Devin C. He was very responsive and gave clear instructions to access the apartment. Location is very central with multiple restaurants, cafes and sightseeing within a walking distance. Few simple things could be easily fixed to make the stay smoother, such as changing the remote control batteries for the fan in the dining room which we couldn’t use as we couldn’t turn off the light/ fan separately. Repairing the shower leak the results in lots of water on the bathroom’s floor, having up curtains to reduce the amount of light that enters the room and make sleeping harder, the AC in the bedroom is very loud and I couldn’t fall asleep without my noise canceling earbuds. A small shelf in the shower would make life much easier instead of bending over constantly to get products from the floor. All in all, it felt safe with three digital locks to access the building and the room and the beds were comfortable. It will be nice to have extra blankets though especially that a note says we can’t turn off the AC because of condensation and the AC blows directly on the bed. This adorable apartment is an easy walk to anywhere in Old San Juan. I loved the apartment. I traveled solo and this location felt safe. I would def stay here again. It’s located closely to everything in old San Juan across the old church. We were able to easily walk to all the attractions and there are numerous fine restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The unit is on the second floor of a nicely renovated historic building with a much appreciated elevator. It is located in a small private inner courtyard which is very quiet in the middle of the otherwise noisy city. The studio is newly renovated and very spacious with a high ceiling, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bath with shower on the main level. Please be aware that the bed is located in a small loft above the bathroom which has a wooden staircase with no hand rails. My wife was afraid that she would fall but successfully managed. It would not be difficult to add handrails to the wall so I hope the owner does so. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues during our stay - the satellite TV never worked (WiFi was fine and fast) and the door to the closet gets off track easily which could be a hazard since it’s about an 8 foot tall panel of glass.
