I had two rooms, the first one in the 5th floor did not get enough hot water, the second in the main tower, 4th floor had a leak in the front door, near the air conditioning , I think. By then , I just dealt with it. The condition of the lobby is bad. The staff is very nice tough and very pleasant

My only observation, is that for a property that large, it should have a small club vive place, nothing over the top. Good Hotel, attention to service needs work

The hotel itself is nice with the normal amenities one would expect from an Intercontinental Hotel. Unfortunately my experience included a room that had a leak in the ceiling. We are not talking about a drip, drip leak--we are talking full blown waterfall. I had to deal with that 3 times with multiple towels and ZERO response from the hotel. At check out, they offered to compensate a meal, but that never happened and really wasn't the issue. they should have just come and fixed the problem when it was reported. In addition to that, while the cost of Costa Rica is generally high, the excessive costs of food and drink at this hotel were way higher than expected--but the quality was very good.

The hotel is very well located. I booked a room with a pool view but unfortunately, the person from reception gave us another room with no nice view. If you try to call the front desk or even room service you will be lucky to get through, the hallway was dirty, and when we arrived to the hotel no one helped us with our luggage not even a welcoming greet, was not what I expected, until now I still have problems with my payment, the hotel still has my preauthorization charge and not my final charge after my departure.

Intercontinental San Jose Costa Rica

It was a quick two days after spending several days in Quepos. I went specifically to use the spa which is wonderful and the treatments were worth it. The only problem I had is that for 500 a night with club access, I found the rooms to be poorly maintained and the service not that helpful. The bathtub smelled of urine and the cold faucet was broken. The windows were very dirty and the shower door leaked water with every shower. The shower doors were dirty too. Nobody offered to help me with my luggage which I had two suitcases and a backpack and I was alone. For a 5 star hotel I expected a bit more of a warm greeting. The pool is very nice and kept up well and the morning breakfast and happy hours were nice. All in all, it was decent. The spa made up for what the cleanliness and service of the front desk lacked.

Our stay at the InterContinental Hotel Multiplaza was a perfect finale to our Costa Rican adventure. From the moment we arrived, parking was a breeze, and dropping off our AVIS rental car couldn’t have been more convenient—ideal for travelers trying to make the most of their final hours. The hotel’s location is spot-on, directly across from the Multiplaza mall, which was a lifesaver for picking up last-minute gifts and essentials for my daughter. The mall offered a great variety of nice shops, all within easy walking distance. Our room was spotless and well-equipped with everything we needed. The only hiccup was the shower handle, which kept falling off during use—something that could use a quick fix. Other than that, the space felt modern, comfortable, and truly upscale. A real highlight was the breakfast buffet—plentiful, delicious, and diverse. We especially appreciated the thoughtful takeaway breakfast spread arranged for our early morning airport departure. It’s little touches like this that set a hotel apart. With 24-hour services, friendly and attentive staff, and a secure, well-kept environment, we always felt both welcome and safe. The on-site shop even had some lovely souvenirs, perfect for those last-minute memory-makers. Overall, the InterContinental provided a smooth, classy, and convenient stay. We’d absolutely recommend it—and we’d happily return.

I liked that this property has a bunch of restaurants, and several pools accessible in later hours. It has a good resort vibe. It looks like a "5 star". I stayed there with a friend instead of my usual spot in San Jose, because they were close to where I wanted to be and had double rooms available. The room was nice, bathroom had marble everything. The beds, I got horrible sleep, as they decided to over luxify the thing by adding down mattress topper, down duvet, and down pillows. All of this in a tropical climate. Basically that meant I had to keep the A/C as low as possible (as a Canadian), and bed was too hot. Daily room cleanup... my friend and I were sleeping in late, which meant that, we put up a sign that had three parts (I want cleaning, cleaning in progress, dont bother me). This sign apparently confuses the staff. Because even though we wanted privacy, we only got our room cleaned/towels changes 2 out of 5 nights we stayed there. One of the days my friend desperately asked the staff passing by to get fresh towels and get the room done. Her mistake was not to call front-desk. But not sure that would have worked, two phones in the room would only indicate a busy tone when front-desk was called. Now, to top all of this off. Once we checked out (a day earlier than what we paid for), we got a 100 USD bill, of that $50 was not ours. Mind you, that's 100_ USD in mini fridge bills for consuming only water (a mix of sizes and local vs import).

We were granted a suite, wich was very spacious, the proble was the phone by the bed, it didn"t work. The service was very slow. The bathtub was broken, the room had a water leak by the door of the bathrooom, I think there is a great load of eork to improve the hotel. We stayed at the lounge tower, the service was always very kind, congratulations, they prepare for me a great machiato. The spa was spotless, this is the reason to return again to the hotel. The corridors were very messy people left trays, dirty napkins, empty botles outside the rooms, this is no good for the brand you represent, the manager should always look more into these details.
