The ornate 19th-century woodwork creates a charming atmosphere. Breakfast is better than most but hard-boiled eggs were overcooked. Staff were courteous. Overall, a good value.

I booked a queen suite with a pull out couch for 3. I was drawn to the hotel's Victorian charm and it's proximity to Japan Town. The hotel was gorgeous and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The breakfast was a nice touch too. I did have a spooky experience though. During the first night of my stay I fell asleep on my stomach and shifted around wedging my pillow between my chin and the headboard which crained my neck at a weird angle. I felt my self being shifted by my shoulders and I started to wake up a little. I got kinda mad bc I just thought it was my fiance waking me up for some unknown reason, when I got this... feeling? voice? something telling me that my neck was in an uncomfortable position. Next thing I knew I was on my back with my pillow under my head and my blankets pulled over me and I drifted back to sleep thinking nothing of it. The next night I asked my fiance about it and she told me she didn't move me or even wake up that night. I kinda went into denial mode and suggested she just was sleepy and didn't remember. After we got home, I found out this place was the most haunted hotel in SF. Apparently it was built as a boarding school for girls and it's rumored to be haunted by Mary Lake, the former headmistress who loved the school and was devastated after it closed. She's known to be a friendly spirit who takes care of guests, and even tucks them in. Her room was one floor above ours to the left. Didn't believe in ghosts until now. 10/10 life changing stay.

This property is beautiful if you appreciate the style. It’s a 3-star hotel so that’s what you get overall, what is charming about the property is that is a preserved 120 year old building and decor. The staff is super friendly, it’s walking distance to many dinning options and if you are not afraid of walking a bit extra, you can be at the fisherman’s wharf in about 40 min.

The hotel with its gilded age charm was a fun deviation from the standard chain hotel. The bed was super comfortable. I loved the lobby with all the little conversation areas including a couple in front of fireplaces. Breakfast was more than expected with many options. The happy hour cookies and sherry were a classy touch that fit the overall vibe of the hotel.

This was the best hotel stay Ive ever experienced in SFO. Then on top of that there was free breakfast and an afternoon tea service. Really good value 4 blocks from Japantown.

Staff was amazing. Room was clean. The windows rattled a bit during the bad weather. In the morning, the sausage and coffee was a bit cold, muffins were fresh and good.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were average warm continental breakfast options. This place is old and smells old. Not musty or unpleasant just old. It is super clean dispite the age. Would stay again.

The staff was very friendly which is something I am very grateful for as someone who has severe anxiety. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the amenities were very nice. The view was beautiful and everything was so clean and cozy. This is the only hotel I’ll stay at in San Francisco, can’t wait to go back. <3

Beautiful Victorian house that transports you to the 1800s with its decor of antique artifacts. It's like stepping back in time. The rooms are large, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing stay. I just wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy it all.

This place is a Gem
Absolutely genuine decor, friendly staff, amazing furnishings in an old style luxury hotel. Our room was spacious. The breakfast was nice as well and the dining room has plenty of space. Make time to just enjoy this place. Close walking distance to Japan town for authentic ramen. Note: there is parking in a well lit lot across the street but do not leave anything inside. We were fine, no one had breaking, but be smart.

I booked the hotel because of the proximity of my scheduled workshop. I did not know that the hotel was haunted until we settled in room 410 and I googled it. The first night at around midnight the mattress moved as if somebody sat down which scared me. Fortunately the heater and the fridge made noises that calmed me down. The next 2 nights were fine. The breakfast was good and delicious cookies and sherry were served in the afternoon. The only other unexplainable thing: both my husband and I swear “The Mary Lake Suite” sign on our door was invisible to us during our 3 day stay. We only saw it later in pictures of the hallway that I took.

the place is incredibly old which is incredibly beautiful. The administration is good but the cleaning is very basic. We were in the living room on the night of 12/31 and a mouse appeared between the furniture. We also realized that the walls and the carpet were very very dirty. I was afraid of finding a mouse on the fourth floor! The included breakfast is basically hot water, tea, coffee and slices of stale bread.

QUEEN ANNE IS A WINNER
Very enjoyable stay at this historic property (Built 1890). Michael at the front desk was excellent at check in. Other front desk workers were also excellent. Room was comfortable. Breakfast is well done with hard-boiled eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, etc. Sherry and cookies in the afternoon!

Always fun to see The Queen Anne at Christmas. Friendly staff in the breakfast room. Just one issue - no recycling container in the room or information on where to place items that can be recycled.
