Good value, great location
This fine hotel has classic architecture but it has been well-kept over the years. The location is excellent, half a block from Union Square on the Powell Street cable car line. The rooms are not huge, but they are very adequate. There's always coffee in the lobby (I didn't see an in-room coffee maker, but that's ok), and there's a fine restaurant and bar in the hotel. We stayed there on a Saturday night, and there was some noise from sirens, etc., and even street musicians in Union Square, but we didn't find them to be a distraction -- you are right in the center of town! We'd go there again for sure.
