About this property

Rooftop sunsets, central to all of San Diego

  • Watch the sun go down over San Diego from your own rooftop. Then wake up 10 minutes from Old Town, SeaWorld and the airport, 15 from the Zoo, the beaches and downtown. Four real bedrooms and a 2-car garage, whether you're two or eight.

    THE ROOFTOP
The rooftop is the reason to book this house. Head up the private staircase from the second floor to 360-degree views, room for the whole group, shade umbrellas for hot afternoons, and soft lighting for after dark. Face west at golden hour and you'll watch the sun go down with SeaWorld's Skytower on the horizon. That's where the house gets its name. After dark, stay put: SeaWorld's drone show lights up the western sky on show nights, and on select summer nights and the Fourth of July you get the fireworks without fighting the crowds at the bay.

Out front, a passion fruit vine covers the fence around a patio with a table for four and an umbrella, perfect for morning coffee. All summer long, the vine is full of fruit.

    THE HOUSE
    Built in 2020, three floors.

    Sleeping
    - Primary bedroom: California king and a private balcony
    - Queen bedroom
    - Flex bedroom: two twins that stay separate or push together into a California king
    - Downstairs bedroom: a twin with a pull-out trundle
    - Every bedroom has a desk, built-in wardrobe, and remote-control ceiling fan
    - Graco Pack 'n Play for the littlest guests

    Bathrooms
    - Primary bathroom with a walk-in shower, attached to the primary bedroom
    - Hall bathroom with a tub-shower combo, shared by the queen and flex rooms
    - Half bath on the ground floor
    - Bidets in all three. Towels, makeup towels, hair dryers, soap, shampoo, and conditioner stocked

    Living and kitchen
    - Living room with an electric fireplace and smart TV
    - Kitchen with a gas range, oven, dishwasher, and a Ninja coffee maker for hot coffee or cold brew

    The practical stuff
    - Central A/C and heating
    - Softened, UV-treated water throughout the house, gentler on skin and hair
    - Washer, dryer, and clothes steamer
    - Fast WiFi
    - Private 2-car garage with a ChargePoint Level 2 EV charger (J1772); fits SUVs and minivans up to 18 ft
    - Solar with battery backup, so a neighborhood outage won't touch your stay
    - Beach towels, chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler

    WHERE YOU ARE
Sunset Vista sits in the middle of San Diego, where the city's two main freeways cross, so nothing is far. Drive times from the garage, outside rush hour:
    - Under 10 minutes: Old Town, SeaWorld, Mission Bay, Fashion Valley, the airport
    - 10 to 15 minutes: Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Belmont Park, Liberty Station, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, downtown, Little Italy, Gaslamp, Petco Park, USS Midway, Seaport Village
    - 15 to 25 minutes: Coronado, La Jolla Cove and Shores, Birch Aquarium, Sunset Cliffs, Cabrillo, Torrey Pines
    - Day trips: Safari Park and Legoland, 35 to 45 minutes

On the block: Sardina's for Italian and Bull's Smokin' BBQ are a one-minute walk. Tio Leo's, a few blocks away, has live music most nights. The Gärten is a beer garden with three breweries pouring, wood-fired pizza, and bands on weekends, and Harland Brewing is up the road in Bay Park. For coffee, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is just down Morena. For a late bite, JV's burritos are around the corner, and Sidecar Bar pours cocktails until 2am with a burger cart out front.

Getting around: Tecolote Road trolley station is about a 10-minute walk. The Blue Line runs south to Old Town and downtown and north to UCSD, so you can skip parking for a Padres game or a campus visit. By car, four freeways are within a few minutes (I-5, I-8, I-805, and SR-163). Uber and Lyft usually arrive within 5 minutes.

Visiting a student? The University of San Diego is a 5-minute drive. UCSD is a straight shot north on the trolley, and SDSU is 15 minutes east on I-8.

Here for a Marine graduation? MCRD San Diego is a 10-minute drive. With four bedrooms and a 2-car garage, the whole family stays together for the weekend.

    GOOD TO KNOW
The whole house is yours: all three floors, the rooftop patio, the front patio, and the 2-car garage. Self check-in with a keypad. You'll get your code before check-in. Early check-in or late check-out: ask, and I'll make it work when the calendar allows.

Security: exterior cameras cover every outside entrance (front door, side door, patio door, and garage). There are no cameras inside the house. Smoke and CO detectors and a fire extinguisher are in place.

The house is designed for 8 guests, and that's the maximum.

As a lifelong San Diegan, I enjoy helping guests find the best of our city. Whether you're a family, a couple, a group of friends, or traveling solo, I'm glad to point you to the right beach, a good restaurant, or the places locals actually go. I respect your privacy and won't intrude on your stay. But if you need anything or want a recommendation, I'm a message away.
