Overall we enjoyed staying at Sandy Cay. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing location, this is it! The neighborhood is quiet and the house is only a short walk to the beach. The beaches here are not very crowded, which was a big plus, and the community as a whole is not terribly touristy. There’s enough to keep you busy but it’s not overwhelming.
The house has a very welcoming homey feel. We loved the view from the rooftop deck. The upper deck is perfect for getting lots of sun, and the lower deck is perfect for relaxing in the shade. The screened-in part of the deck became the favorite room in the house. If you’re bringing a large group, there is plenty of room. We had a group of 7, including 4 teenagers, and everyone was quite comfortable. We cooked most days, and the kitchen was more than adequate with plenty of counter space. It has a variety of pots and pans, utensils, and bowls. Plenty of dishes and cutlery. It even has cake pans and your grandma’s ancient hand mixer that has withstood the test of time.
There is access to a community pool , which was nice. They have clean bathrooms and shower rooms, and a separate baby pool. But be aware that it is 20 minutes away in the next town. This did not deter us, but I did not realize this prior to booking. And none of the previous reviews mentioned it.
Overall we loved it at Sandy Cay and we would stay here again.
