The property is an old fashioned design which can be charming. Unfortunately, the furnishings carpeting and decor are all not only dated but worn down. Old fashioned furniture can create a nostalgic atmosphere but not when it is threadbare. The room was spacious and quiet save the street construction which is not the hotel’s fault. I specifically asked for a quiet room and I was placed on the first floor away from the street. The meagre rations of instant coffee and paper cups (very 1970’s) demanded daily requests from staff who were always polite and helpful. It was clear the issues stemmed from hotel policy and not staff decisions. Air conditioning was abysmal requiring us to sleep with an open window and consequently suffer bites from the intruding insect population. The toiletries were resupplied daily but again appeared in tiny bottles akin to hotels fifty years ago: small quantities of inexpensive materials. I even had to ask for hangers as we were alotted five in total for our week long stay.
The hotel is conveniently located but if I returned to Bologna I would happily walk the further distance from the train station for a more comfortable, contemporary experience.

"Breakfast was generous and staff very friendly. Front desk helpful with bags, maps and directions. Carpeting a little worse for wear. Very quiet except when anyone in an adjoining room (or overhead) used the toilet or shower. It sounded like there was water running in MY room. Very spooky"

"Nice hotel less than 100m from the castle and piazza, and a 20 minute walk from the station. The room was comfortable, staff excellent and a good breakfast The shower cubicle was much too small, but this is very common."
