The hotel is very nice with an excellent breakfast and a good location close to great restaurants, nightlife and the beach. Service at the pool bar was a bit slow at times, but otherwise the facilities and hotel were very nice.

From start to finish a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a great location a short walk from the old town part of Salvador, and features cracking views across the bay from the back of the building and the terrace (although be aware the docks do also feature quite predominantly!) Our room was at the front but didnt suffer from any street noise, while the decor and quality of the furnishings etc was top notch. The style of the whole hotel was amazing, with unique decoration and attention to detail, and a great pool/sundeck (although small as there are only 5 rooms it was never crowded) The staff were extremely helpful with advice and guidance, plus happy just to have a chat about anything of interest. Breakfast was varied and high quality, with pleasant service. Overall would definitely stay at Aram Yami again

We were in Salvador during Carnival therefore when we were looking for an hotel to book, close to the historical centre (Pelourinho) but not extremely expensive, we considered ourselves lucky to have managed to find an available room here. The "Pousada do Baluarte" is very stylish. We had a lovely room with bathroom. It also had a small courtyard with an hammock. The owner is very kind and helpful and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was lovely and the place was very clean.

Nice friendly place with lovely staff. Building is lovely and has great character!! My room had a cute little balcony which I could see the ocean from, and watch everything going on in the street below. Great location, I felt very safe here and would defiantly stay again.

Close enough to historical district to walk, safe environment, great beautiful building and room with hammock, breakfast was great, lot of variety, daily service was perfect, support/information about activities and restaurants in area.

We were in Salvador for a conference, and Hotel Matiz was one of the preferred hotels -- with good reason! Although our Portuguese was limited, the highly professional staff did everything to make our 5 night stay a delight. The food was excellent, both the evening meal and the included cafe da manha. Great selection and very plentiful. Taxis were always at the ready, and tours were quickly arranged. Take a day trip to Praia do Forte and Projeto Tamar. The half day tour of the old city is wonderful.

My husband and I spent a week at Casa de Vitoria and were absolutely delighted with our choice of hotel. Natalie and staff were exceptional, they were so friendly and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We would definitely go back again and would recommend it to anyone contemplating a visit to the area. We felt absolutely safe at all times in the community, but we did take notice of the advice to not wear any jewellery when out walking. Beth and Gregg

Perfect location for Carnival. Very close to the action of the main carnival streets and restaurants and beaches, but far enough away to be quiet when you want some sleep. Lovely clean rooms. Very welcoming and helpful host. Fantastic breakfast that will keep you full until dinner. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Salvador.
