Pros: The room was beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The view from the balcony was also beautiful! There is a trail to hike to the top of Mount Maxwell just a few minutes away, but not much else in the immediate area.
Cons: Overall, we were frustrated with a lack of communication and discrepancy in the information provided to us.
We did not know beforehand that check-in is only allowed between 4 and 6pm, so we arrived at 3pm, and there was no one there and nowhere to wait (no lobby space or anything like that). The Hotels.com profile indicates that there is a 24-hour front desk, but that is inaccurate! It was difficult to find anyone if we had a question.
I reserved the booking using a credit card through Hotels.com, and it was indicated that this card could be used to pay for the stay. However, as we were checking out we were informed that the only acceptable payment was cash or check, which we did not have with us. This payment policy needs to be stated clearly on the Hotels.com website.
Finally, some aspects of the room's amenities were not as described. The fireplace did not work. The kitchenette was not well equipped--there was only one spoon, one fork, and no knives, bowls, or mugs. The room did not include many amenities that are listed: there was no portable fan, no safe, no ceiling fan, no desk, and no separate living/dining/sitting areas.
